A little while back [fours years back], there was one person who claimed or rather bragged that she got most of her customers from Craiglist. At that time, the site hadn't been overrun by psychos, scammers and the like. So when Craiglist's reputation went down the drain, it also negatively affected it's efficacy as an advertising platform. Has anyone here used Craiglist or other similar sites to get buyers for property you are selling? Did you get any responses to you ad(s)?
That's a good question. I know Craigslist still gets renters. But I'm not sure about buyers. I've never tried selling a home through Craigslist. The last time I looked, the renting section had been flooded by real estates. I know some renters were complaining about that.
I personally can't stand when apartment communities list on Craigslist. I think in order for you to reach the masses you have to cover all your bases. I market for a real estate agent as I'm obtaining my license and I spend more than 10 hours pushing one property out there because I want to make sure there are variations of the property out there that draws the attention of the right renter/ buyer. You want that property to really shine to the right clients because the one thing that will get you annoyed as an agent is dealing with someone who truly can't afford the property.
I think Ad Classifieds sites work have their purpose in Real Estate, but we need to look wider to see how better we can market our properties, simply listing them and sleeping on them won't do any good, I'm positively sure that if a person sees a house you have, and they like and want it, they will sell what they have and buy the house and make a happy Realtor out of you.
They still work. There are plenty of things I look for on these types of sites. Business Opps, freelance work, other people still sale stuff. I've sold a BBQ pit on Craiglist recently.
The ads might work if you can convince the people to see the legitimacy of your ad. Scammers would target places like Ebay and many others to commit a crime. Its sad but its true and I do not look at ads unless they have something I truly want to know.
Classifieds are ok I think, but I feel that most people look for the jobs online or in temporary work agencies, so I'd invest there first.
The feedback i have gotten from advertising on classified ads has been slow and low...if i can say so, scammers and all filth out there really know how to spoil a good thing, in the end people's trust is completely ruined, i've seen them also infiltrate into social media and succeed..just sad!
Any advertisement is good advertisement, that's what I think. Some of the best customers can come from the weirdest places and even from obscure advertisements. You just need to learn how to eliminate the weirdos through a process of elimination. Figure out a method and stick to it. Get a new email made specifically for this ad. Do not use personal email or contact info unless you have screened the potential customer properly.
That's how I feel as well, if we are placing an add someone will see it, we just have to select the media more adequate for what we pretend and consider costs as well of course.
