Yes we hear stuff about the economy being bad and stressful. Every since we had this economical disaster from the start things have been getting a bit better in terms of the job market. Some areas have improved which I can say that my area has not improved. I live in a small like city called Turlock which is in the valley. I have been applying to different areas and businesses especially the ones who are hiring. I am unemployed and I still do not have a job yet and I have been looking for a year and ten months. So far I just need to have some sort of light on this.

I am not unemployed thank god, I have a full time job or else I could not support myself and my family. I don't envy the luck of those looking for a job though, best of luck for them.

Nope, I work full time and do some moonlighting. My wife is also a working professional. The area I'm in is very economically depressed, so we're fortunate to have good jobs and a health care benefits.

Sailing in the same boat or sort huh?...don't give up, keep trying harder, in my case i have been out of work for 9 months now, i have been doing a bit of odd jobs here and there to keep myself busy so as not to stress too much, i try being optimistic despite grimness staring at me in the face, i know this optimism will pay of! :)

Right now I am self employed. I do some freelance writing and marketing. I quit my job about 3 months ago and I do not see myself going back. Unless the actually raise the minimum wage. I would rather work from home without having to pay for transportation.

You'll never be unemployed if you have a dream and the will to make a change in your own life. I personally love freelance writing, chose to quit the regular working world because I realized I have one life and if I'm not the one to make that drastic step in my life to follow what I love then when? There is but so much you can get done with in your day when you work outside of the home. I'm personally happy that I don't have to deal with the drive into work, the boss yelling, the coworker gossip, or the traffic back. I have two small children and it is wonderful to be able to take care of them when they need me, go back to school and pursue a career in real estate as well. I think you have to take each day, moment, year as an opportunity to take charge of your own aspirations and there is always a way to make some type of income if you have the upbeat/ hungry attitude.

That's also true, there are always jobs available if we are not afraid to work, eventually not the best ones, but at least we will have a pay check.

I like it, you are blazing a trail out here for those of us who have lost hope at ever finding true offline work, that is awesome, this is what i have been doing for these 9 months that i have been at home, instead of staring at the ceiling and thinking this is the worst time of my life :)

That's an inspiring story Crystal, if you're making at home as much money as you did before you quit your job well done, enough exploitation I say.
