Is it legal for real estate agents to charge a certain rate so that prospective renters or buyers have to pay to view the said property?...or its dependent of different real estate agents and their specific policies and rules in regard to that?...kindly enlighten me on this
I wonder with that issue myself, because there are those that charge a veiwing fee and there are those that do not, so I guess it all depends with the real estate agent, whether it is legal or not I am not sure about that.
Not sure if it's legal or not. That's the first I've ever heard of such a thing. No way in hell I'd ever pay just to see something I may or may not buy that may or may not put a nice fat commission check in the agent's hands soon.
@Determined2014, Hmmm...still on pondering mode in that regard as well, its just that my friend wanted to know whether she'd be charged to view my house by my real estate agents and i said no...but am thinking, where they charge to view, is like celebrities condos, apartments and the like...because its much 'wowed' after! In such an instant i know real estate agents do make a 'killing!'
I do believe there are agents out there who make a 'huge killing' out of that...maybe they may not mention it to you right there, but might cunningly find their way through it via the rent charge or something of that sort...
I do not think it is legal at all to pay someone to just view the property.I am sure that the estate agent were just trying to make profit out of some people. Such fees should be completely as the real estate agentsa are looting the people.
I don't think that people will pay at all to view the property, if someone asked this to me I'd just see another property, there's a lot of offers these days you know?
I have never heard of anyone charging to view a property before, but I guess maybe it is to make sure that you only get serious inquiries. I don't believe that I would pay to view a property though.
Come to think of it, i remember once taking a family friend of mine to view some houses, she really wanted to move but had not found 'the one'...at the end of our field trip viewing houses...the real estate agent insisted on charging us...saying he was on the job...my friend had to part with some money...i don't know how i could have forgotten that day!...we were miffed .
@ Gelsemium and ally79...i both second your views on charging to view...but just as i have illustrated to shilpa123 above what happened that day!...its safer inquiring first as to whether a real estate agent will charge to view...so as not to get a shocker!
