Is anybody still paying off their student loan?
I do not mean your son/daughter's student loan but your student loan?
Once, I was a public school teacher. It was required that teachers take 6 credits of education every few years to maintain their certification. I borrowed a loan the last time I paid for classes. I just remembered that I have a few remaining payments left. Therefore, I am not truly debt free.

No, I worked my way through school, so had very little debt. It wasn't easy and it took a toll on my health, but its what I had to do. My wife's student loan debt took a while to pay off, but its done now.

I was fortunate in that I had the GI Bill and worked as well, so my debt was minimal.

Nope, I worked while I studied and never had to even take a student loan.

I didn't go to college but student debt is nonexistant or very low. If I were an American making abysmal wages with my college degree, I would just stop paying the loans and seek employment in a better country :).

Just because you move to another country it doesn't mean that the debt is cancelled. :p

My friend is studying to be an anesthesiologist. He is not even going to be an MD. He will be a D.O. He says he has over 200k in student loans to pay off.

I have been paying my student loan from the past four years. It is really annoying but I can pay only a small amount of money per month due to which it has extended till now. I hope that it ends soon but for that I really need to work hard and pay the money in lumpsum.

It seems like I have been paying on my student loan forever. I made a decision to go back to school late in my career. i wanted to focus on skills that would give me a more stable earning base. I ran into a few years where I did not work due to a car crash. Now the amount a pay is huge but there is an end in sight. The loan went from Direct Loans to Sallie Mae, which has now sent it to Navient. I have not decided if I like the new one yet. I don't feel like I made the wrong decision taking out a student loan, I had hoped I could have paid it off faster but sometimes that's just not a possibility.
