Is it true that Uber has grown at least 200% in less than a year? Could it be undervalued as a stock?
Why didn't I have the insight to buy that stock?

I thought Uber was good for going to the airport. I initially thought they were just in my region; however, I began hearing that name mentioned in the news. Uber is across the country.
I know someone, a retiree, who wanted to drive for Uber. She only wanted the airport route. She easily passed the background check. She spent extra money obtaining extra auto insurance, keeping the car tuned up, auto washing and detailing but she also made money. Since she was not willing to drive around in the dark, she got her grandson to take over those assignments. She is making enough money to begin a third pension via TIAA-CREF!

I think I would be more comfortable taking an UBER ride than some of the sketchy cabs I have been in before. As long as they do good background checking. It would be a great way to earn some extra money if you love to drive. I thought they were only local to my area, but it looks like the idea is snowballing.

I think it's a risky long term but money can be made now. All it takes is a few laws to change to prevent the service from being offered. It's not really fair for taxis that have to jump through a bunch of hoops and fees to run a business. Also, what does Uber have that no one else can do? Seems like any competing service could pop up and take sales.

I think it was Portland that recently launched an effort to ban Uber from operating within the city through legal means. Internationally, New Delhi banned Uber recently, too, due to crimes related to Uber drivers. The fact of the matter is that the service is starting to see some major backlash for its business practices and its drivers. High-profile cases of crime have involved Uber drivers attacking their patrons or causing manslaughter incidents for whatever reason. The company's risk is starting to rise since regulation (even outright bans in certain cities) is knocking on its door.

I personally wouldn't invest in UBER as a long term prospect.
It may have great gains right now as it's getting started, but all it takes is a crazy person getting on there and causing a tragedy that catches the media's attention and that's the end of that business model...

Lots of ethical concerns within the leadership ranks and bad press there. Where there's smoke there's often fire. I wouldn't be shocked if they aren't also cooking the books. Look for them to have to spend a fortune settling various legal disputes.

Exactly. The PR hit that Uber is taking right now isn't going to get better anytime soon, and chances are good that the company is only going to get in further financial or PR trouble in the coming months. The short-term growth is going to sputter even harder, and long-term the company might hit roadblock after roadblock. Taking a chance on Uber isn't recommended at this time, or perhaps even in the future. It's not looking good.

This is a company that I should have invested in. I just started hearing about the progress that they have made since last year, and from everything I've been hearing, the company is doing very well.

Well, you can't invest directly in Uber, or even Lyft, because they're both privately held companies. Uber was valued at well over $10 billion fairly recently, and no doubt the company would have wanted to go public. The negative PR might prevent the company from doing that anytime in the near future, though. It's a shame for investors, although the company does have some shady business practices and some terrible drivers, in some cases.

Uber is booming until there is no legislation about it because when that happen things will change. I can't really tell if it's a good investment or not right now.
