I wanted to reach someone on phone to ask him a question. I discovered that I deleted his contact number some time back because I did not think I would be getting in touch again. I have asked everyone I know about his number and no one has it. I have learned a very important lesson; it does not hurt to keep someone’s number.

Good advice, I often delete a lot of old numbers but you never know when you might need them.

It is true that it does not hurt to keep someone number. I believe it is quite important to have one 's number and use it accordingly. I do not think I usually delete anyone' s number.

You should probably keep those numbers written down as well. What if you lose your phone? Wouldn't that be a tragedy? In the old days we all ways kept address books with at least a phone contact for people we wanted to keep in touch with. I say the address book isn't necessarily obsolete just yet.

I also keep numbers synced up with my e-mail address. It's great because when I change phones, I always have the numbers as well.

The good part with my smartphone is that I do not have to worry about losing numbers very much since it keeps a log of the numbers I call without them being my contacts. I remember I was looking for a specific number and I looked at my log and found it which was cool since the old flip cell phone did not have that feature. I do not really believe in texting very much I rather reach the person then miss them.

I tend to keep business cards and contact information. Goes back to the days when i worked as an internet program manager, it never hurts to have a well developed database of people in various positions that can help you. This is also very true things in everyday situations, a direct line to someone in a utility company or a store can be worth gold for geeing things done. takes effort though, you have to try and keep in touch just to keep the right contact information current. My thought is always have a business card and never feel bad about asking someone for one, you just never know what use it could be down the road. It's called networking.

Even if I remove someone's number from my phone I don't get rid of it completely. I have an Excel spreadsheet on my computer that I put "old" numbers and email addresses into in case there comes a day when I need it again.

I gave done that before too and regretted doing it because I too needed some information. I really need to keep a back up list of my phone numbers in the event that I lose my phone. It would be hard to get them all back. It seems as though we are too dependent on our electronics these days and we all know that computers and electronics can crash.

Have you considered uploading them to cloud storage? You may not know when you need an old number and it's good to have them around. I still have some numbers that are over 8 years old.
