Yup, similar thing that happened in South Africa after the apartheid: it just turned around. Back in the day the black people didn't have rights, nowadays it's the white people that don't have rights. Just keep in mind that in modern society this is not known as racism or racial discrimination since it's the white people being mistreated. I imagine this situation in Zimbabwe is very similar, the government just does what ever they feel like doing in order to give themselves/their people an advantage.
I find the double standards to be disgusting. Either the world is against racism as a whole or . . . I'm sure that the Zimbabwean leaders do this at times when they are losing the support of 'their people' to remind them that they have a common enemy when in fact the real enemy they should be voting out of office is the one doing all the hoodwinking. The country will be better off when the bastard [Mugabe] dies.

I think the world has learned much from the instability in Iraq and Libya and would not bother to oust any other dictator. Unfortunately though, as you rightly point out, these people tend to stay alive longer than they are needed to be alive. But if people are willing to wait, in less than 20 years Mugabe will either be dead or his intelligence will fade out. And he'd have to be replaced. I think once many of these people who think they are entitled to certain benefits because they were in politics in the colonial era [die] it will free Africa from despots. And maybe with new, younger, visionary leaders, Africa's perennial problems might be dealt with.
That happened in the PALOP back in the 60's when the Portuguese left Angola, Mozambique and the other former colonies and they left everything behind, African operates in a different way.
It's unfortunate that there is still racism in the world. Unfortunately, some folks seem to have a different standard for different races. Racism is racism in my eyes. Whether it's bigotry directed towards someone who is white or black is indifferent to me. It's all the same. We should all be treated the same regardless of our skin tone. Unfortunately bigots and demogogues exploit racial differences and that seems to be what's going on in this case.
The farmers were giving the land. Some of the land was owned by other families that had the land in their family for generations. They were forced off the land. They says some of the "white farmers" tried to keep the families from being kicked off but it didn't help. Not sure what they were planning for those families. The government is taking the land back and giving it back to the people of Zimbabwean. James
It's a chaotic scenery, basically the government nationalizes the land just because they can regardless of who the land belonged to.
See, that's the problem with having too much power...can someone wield too much power?...anyway, selfishness takes root and perhaps wisdom/intelligence as you put it takes flight hence the dramatics happening in Zimbabwe right now or has been happening for the last umpteen years ...i never understand why people are so frigid and rigid to change...i'm a traditional/conservative even but i believe in change...too much of a routine is a bore and a sore wound
