Has anyone used the service called Rent A Friend? It is a online service where you can browse and look for someone who you want to hire to be a friend. When you do hire that person to be your friend you do what friends would normally do like hangout or go to the movies. Apparently the site has been around since 2009 and the people you are with pay you up front. The site has some careful safety guidelines for you to follow when meeting that person for the first time. From what I am looking at you can work part time and full time. If you do work full time and go by the rate of $50/hr you can make around $8000 a month which is $96000 a year. Has anyone used this site if you do then feel free to share.

Those expectations are unrealistic to say the least. First of all, who the hell pays $50/h to hangout with you? Secondly, you can't expect to get business 8h per day, that would be a lot of very desperate people needing a friend on a daily basis. Not a horrible idea for some extra income, but you are kidding yourself if you think this will turn into a full time job.

It does sound a bit strange but I it all depends on the person and their needs. I found out that this site was talked about on the news one time and there are some Youtube vids about it.

I suppose it's very much like hiring an escort? Makes me wonder who has absolutely no friends and must pay someone for their company? Psychos. I could be wrong but I believe even those who wish to make money being friends to random strangers they know nothing about then they ought to blame themselves should anything bad happen [to them].

Wow, rent a friend? Sign me in? :D Yeah, that can look fishy, instead of escort it's a friend, I'd feel funny hanging around with someone knowing that I was being paid for it.

The idea sounds really crazy as well weird. Also it looks much like the escorts that people usually have around here. It cannot be very grateful.

For me it would feel more strange to be the one paying. The other one would laugh at my jokes, seem eager to spend time with me etc etc etc but somewhere in the back of my mind I would still know that none of it is real, he/she is only doing it for the cash. It's just lying to yourself and losing A LOT of cash in the process.

I could actually see where this could come in handy if say you needed to bring a boyfriend/girlfriend to a family event and you didn't have one. Of course you would have to pay to "test drive" the friend a few times before you could take them around your family. I certainly wouldn't think that it would be any kind of full time income but it could turn out to be an interesting part time job if you are the sociable type.

Exactly my thoughts. I suspect it is an escort service which is hiding behind a facade. That way you can claim it as a business expense or bill it to your company expense account. Let me guess all of the "friends" are under 30 and female. They also are willing to do friends with benefits if they get paid extra ? It does not pass the smell test to me.

yeah it looks extremely shady. I can MAYBE see it if the rates were lower, but $50 an hour is quite a lot. Could probably get a prostitute for cheaper where I'm from
