But this time round it's not about race. Liberals plan to open a gay-only school in Atlanta. If this isn't segregation, I don't know what is. Currently it is but something they are planning. http://www.americasfreedomfighters....only-school-for-kids-as-young-as-3-years-old/ How does one know if their three year old boy is gay? But since when did discriminating against those who are "different" [straight in this case] get to be considered right?
Gay only school? Are we serious about this? What would be the point in having a school just for gays. Also, good question you raise, how would they know if kids are gay?
Okay from what I gathered from the article it is not that the students are necessarily gay/ transgender or whatever, it is that they come from families that are. They are trying to provide a safe place for those families to have their kids educated without being judged because of the type of family that they come from. I am not saying I agree with this at all, just that they aren't trying to label 3 year olds as gay.
I think the headline "gay-only school" is somewhat misleading. It seems it's for children of gay parents as well as older children who may identify as being "LBGTQQIA". I agree that it's a great idea to offer such kids the chance to get an education without the fear of harrassment but is it going a step too far? What's wrong with tackling harassment in regular schools?
Yeah once again this political correctness manages to piss me off. If it was a straight-only school it would be in all the newspapers etc. and they would get sued for segregation in a heartbeat. And the people behind it would be paying millions in fines for "emotional damage" etc. When it's gay-only it's ok.
How exactly would a gay school be different from a "straight" school?? I think the motivation behind it is to stop bullying? Horrible way to go about it if that's the case
The only case where I imagine a straight-only school would be requested would be due to religious reasons. But just imagine the controversy that this would cause! It's certainly got a lot to do with bullying but for crying out loud, why not try to tackle the harassment instead?
Segregataion won't fix the problem only exacerbate it. The best solution is to provide the support through staff and education than to go through the process of building an entirely new school. I can see it being the target of hate crimes or bombings in the future, which is I'm sure not what they want. I teach my children about acceptance, because let's be realistic here... they aren't going to create schools for every difference in every person just to make one specific group feel warranted or welcome.
I am a little bit confused about this: Are the gays the ones who are isolating themselves from society? That makes no sense. I do not really understand why this is happening and why anyone would want to be in that school.
That is exactly what I have been wondering. If it is to stop bullying, then that is an absolutely terrible way to go about it. Isolation causes more and more problems to unfold.
