One man, brought into a police precinct for questioning made the mistake of imagining that since police brutality has been on the news lately, if he accused the police of beating him up, he'd be released. He punched himself in the face not knowing that his action was being recorded. Fool that he was he didn't know there'd be a CCTV camera . . .

For his efforts he charged with attempted coercion, fined $500 and he'll be in the slammer for 20 days. The judge was very lenient if you ask me.

I saw at one while watching the show Cops. If you are being recorded then you should know better. This guy was another looney who just thought he was able to setup a police brutality case and became the case.

But the fact that he knew his story would be believed is rather disconcerting. And had he not been recorded, I'm sure it would have been his word against the cops but considering the fact that police brutality has been a lot on the news he'd have got those cops in trouble. It's a disgusting to do . . . trying to frame someone who is innocent.

I do not understand why he would do such a thing. What is the whole point in trying to make people believe that the police are brutal and are not civilised. It is a wrong way of thinking.

He didn't want to be questioned by police. But the police should learn something from this. Their reputation has been so sullied that everyone's believe police officers are brutes. An effort to change would probably restore the trust they've lost.

lol, so he punched himself in the face and was recorded doing it? That's a good punishment, he really just tried to commit fraud nothing else.

That is just idiotic. I understand why people are riled up about police brutality but this is ridiculously stupid.

That is very silly, I wonder why it did not cross his mind that the it is a police station and that there would definitely be cameras around, well too bad for himm, he should have been charged with assault, for assaulting himself.

He must have had some "health issues" if he seriously thought he could get away with something like that! It is a sad reflection of society in general and the police force in particular that he would have been believed were it not for the CCTV footage. I doubt any lessons will be learnt from this though.
