There is an interesting bill being proposed that would abolish the scandal-ridden and, largely, redundant agency known as the BATFE. It would transfer the firearms and explosive regulatory oversight to the FBI and the booze and tobacco side of the house to the DEA. With the present administration, it is hard to imagine this will ever be signed into law. Still, it is interesting considering all the brouhaha lately about the actions of said agency.

I think that it sounds like a perfectly reasonable idea. I would say that maybe it would even safe some money, but our government is not at all big on the idea of saving money. I will be interested to see if anything comes from this bill.

The Republican establishment clowns don't have the guts to REALLY defy Obama.

Obama is even going after Dems who defy him now. I can just imagine what he may have on Boehner, McConnell, Graham, et al to make them so reluctant to go against him.

It's a nice idea that the Republican Party would stand for it's supposed belief in limited government, but I don't see that happening. When is the last time we abolished one of these crappy government agencies? I certainly can't think of the last time. Government agencies do nothing but grow year by year. So while it's a nice thought, I doubt the GOP will actually follow through. They don't have the guts.

Sad, but so very true. Boehner is positively worthless. In fact, I recently read that Democrats have vowed to protect him. If that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does.
