From time to time you might have to deal with real estate agents who won't hesitate to make a quick profit at the expense of their clients. I've heard a number of tales about such agents unethical practices, the kind of tricks they use, etc, etc. Some real estate agents for example may represent both the buyer and the seller [of a property] in the same transaction. Whom would he be working for in such a case? Have any of you ever dealt with such a sleazeball?
Lol, I have met some of them. I've also met some agents that pretend to act nice with clients, but they do not act the same way with their colleagues, and I think this is all because one is paying them and the other isn't. People tend to treat people better when they are benefiting from them. The best thing to do in such a case where you come across a dishonest agent is to report them.
Maybe there should be a show that would teach new home buyers about these people. Realtors could be shady and just care for profit. Just do your homework and be very observant when dealing with these people since all they care about is the sale.
When I bought my place I really hated to work with the real estate company that was selling. First they told me that they didn't need a sign, but after a week they said it was necessary, so needed to pay interests for an extra loan, really bad from them.
I haven't ever ran into one but I'm sure they exist! With any person that has a big effect in your financial life, you should be careful when choosing the right one and if they do their job properly then stick with them! If you have any doubts, time to change... there are a thousand others out there looking for clients.
I have dealt with flaky realtors both personally and also professionally when I was a mortgage broker. You have to keep your guard up with them. I've found some to be seemingly unmotivated, some to be too willing to work both sides when I've been the one to hire them, some to be very pushy and want to run you over and make you jump through their hoops, etc. You have to be a little tough with them. And if you find a good one, use them exclusively whenever possible and refer others to them as a reward for them actually being honest and good at their job.
I'm not keen on dealing with realtors at all. Last time I sold a house, I didn't bother using one at all. I just conducted all the viewings myself and hired a lawyer to take care of the conveyancing. OK, it took up a lot of time but it saved me a great deal of money.
That is not a bad idea at all. I would definitely want the lawyer there to get the paperwork right, and probably some professional to evaluate the price of the house, but a realtor is not absolutely necessary.
I pick my realtor very very well. I only work with realtors belonging to reputable companies. Property is an important matter, whether you are a buyer or a seller, so there's no point why you would not work with the best out there. A simple mistake in transaction may cost you a lot, not to mention the other potential complications and problems that may come along with it. I work with the best and these types of headaches are for sure not going to be experienced.
If i meet with one, be sure of that, he/she is going down...just a little rap on his/her sleazy work reputation and he/she bites the dust...if other prospectives get wind of it, no one will want to deal with/work with him/her...simple!
