I know of spark profits, which will reward you with real (although very negligible amounts) money if you invest correctly. Other than that site, what are other good avenues to hone my investing skills that doesn't require investing ACTUAL money?
I believe most discount brokers and full service brokers who offer trading account platforms also allow "paper trading".
Paper trading with your broker of choice would probably be the best way to do it. That way you also start getting familiar with their trading platform at the same time. I know my broker requires a real account that is funded to their required minimum before they will open a paper trading account for you, but other brokers might offer them for everyone.
Most brokers offer it, so I would go through the usual step of finding a broker that you want to be with in the long term. Check their fees, their selection of investment products etc. You can also add "has paper trading account" to a list of your requirements. As I said earlier, it's a good opportunity to get familiar with their trading platform.
TD Ameritrade has a paper trading platform associated with their active trading Think or Swim platform. I've used it before. It's a pretty complex app designed for active day traders, but there are tutorials and it's not too hard to figure out how to the more elementary features. You don't need to open an acct to use it - just register I believe.
TD Ameritrade sounds like something that's viable. I been trying to practice for a long time but I can't seem to find the proper software to really teach me what I need to know. But this software seems like it's something that's a little bit more realistic that actually has some sort of learning quality to it. The other software doesn't really teach me anything but how to be more confused.
Nothing comes free queen and even if we are paying nothing to register we must pay a percentage of our winnings I am guessing.
Been wondering the same thing myself. I'd like to practice without the risk of losing tons of money. I'm hardly an extra in investing and think it would be best for my wallet if I could practice with a seasoned professional. I bank with TD Bank so I may check into the TD Ameritrade paper trading system. Hopefully it's reasonable, or better yet, free.
