I am not sure how I missed this, but just found out that the 2016 summer Olympics will be held in Brazil. How do you think this will boost their economy? Is this a safe place to hold the olympics?
The world cup for football just happened in Brazil and yes even though they did have an economy boost they faced many problems. There was issues with the stadiums and then the way the transport workers were threatening to act. 18 sports federations have voiced their anxiety that stadiums will not be ready in time. It is just a fifty fifty situation I think. It can go either way.
Lot's of problems that still need solving but I'm confident that they can get it done somehow. It's not going to be perfect but I don't see any big issues with the games themselves, transportation and other services for the tourists could be another thing. It's certainly going to give a big one time boost to the economy but these one time boosts are not really worth acting on as it's just a tiny tiny part of the bigger picture.
Yep, the World Cup has prepared the infra-structures, so I am hoping this will go smoothly, apart from the protests from the populations that too much money is being spent on sporting events...
Brazil hosted the world cup. There weren't any incidents that would make anyone question whether it safe enough to hold the Olympics there. However since ISIS has numerous sympathizers all over the world it would be hard to tell if terrorists won't try to spill some blood.
I guess it is not 100 percent safe anywhere that there are major world presence and lots of people flooding in to take part in the festivities. I think the olympics will draw in a larger crowd than even the World Cup did, and aren't their many more countries represented in the Olympics? I just worry that something bad will happen at one of these things.
I'm sure Brazil is experiencing a big spike in infrastructure quality with the World Cup and the Olympics so close together, it's actually a really good idea to host the in the same city like this, it should happen more often.
This could be an economy and moral boost for Brazil since they had some rough moments last year and the year before. It should turnout okay for them if they plan the Olympics correctly. Safety is a huge must so Brazil needs to straighten that part out before they host the 2016 Olympics.
Brazil summer Olympic is really great. I would definitely want to watch it. I wish I could be there during that time.
Nothing can ever go smoothly with an Olympic organization. We just don't hear about it often. Let's hope its the same with Brazil
