What are your thoughts on Marco Rubio jumping into the presidential race on April 13th? I think he'll be a strong contender. He's a bright, charasmatic young man with pretty interesting ideas, and seems to have the ability to speak on just about any issue off the cuff. A bit of a policy wonk. It some ways he reminds me of a Republican Obama. Also think his foreign policy views are what this country needs. I look for him to be a first tier candidate.

There was a point in which he was viewed as a rising star in the GOP world. While I agree with most of his policy positions, I don't think he's really ready for prime time yet. Maybe in another election cycle, but it is hard to imagine he will win the nomination. Still, his jumping into the race will be a net positive.

I don't see Rubio as a viable candidate for the GOP nomination. Quite frankly, I don't see any potential nominees in the GOP field who can challenge the Democratic nominee without coming across divisive and insulting to certain demographics in America. I admire Republican values for tradition and financial regulation but I can't tolerate the extremism I seen by their actions in Congress and towards the President of the United States. I feel President Obama has been subjected to disrespect, which sets a damaging precedent for future Presidents to be undermine while holding the highest office in America. The GOP must fix their image as a whole to win over a rapidly changing landscape in America.

How has the GOP been disrespectful to Obama? You don't think that President Bush dealt with a very hostile press and opposition from Democrats? The guy was villified every day from sun up to sun down. As far as Rubio, yeah he may be young and inexperienced, but that didn't stop Obama from being elected. They are a lot alike in some way. We'll see if that inexperience is a hinderance in the Republican primary. As Republicans tend to go with the experienced candidate not the fresh face as Democrats tend to.

    I like him also.

As for "disrespect", Obama is not supposed to be king, and is not supposed to be any more powerful than Congress. I do not put ANY politician on a pedestal - they work FOR US. I let my congressmen and local officials (who I often wite, meet in person, vote for, and even contribute money to) know this straight up. Other than addressing them by their elected title if already in office, I do not mince words with them or kiss their asses - even if I like and respect them.

I like Rubio a lot. I think he's one of the better GOP candidates for this election cycle, but unfortunately, I don't think he'll get the party support to win the nomination. His stance on immigration is "too bipartisan" and goes against the party mantra. Which is too bad because I relate with his ideals more so than most politicians in the last 8 years. I think he brings a youthful approach to the GOP, something that's been a desperate need for many years.

The word is that Rubio is going t O run a generational campaign focusing on his youthfulness and fresh ideas. I think it's a great strategy for the general election especially if the Dems do in fact nominate Hillary Clinton. Not sure how well it will work in the GOP primary.

This is absolutely what the GOP needs, but unfortunately, we're the party who thought it was a good idea to put the 1000000 year old John McCain as our candidate. The GOP has generally shied away from anything "new and generational," but if Rubio can grab more of the youth vote and secure the likely backing of the conservatives, he'll have as good a chance at any in going against Hillary.

Rubio seems like genuinely nice guy. Hes very articulate and personable. Thats something the GOP has been lacking since Reagan. Youre right that Republicans need to run a fresh face for once. The same old, same old clearly hasnt worked. Couldnt hurt to try something new.

Couldn't agree more. He's the only guy right now that looks half decent from the GOP. If I had to choose a Republican, I guess he'd be my pick
