    Hi guys,

I'm a college grad, starting at a new job and really keen to learn about investing the right way. I have a fair idea about investing, thanks to my father's tutoring, but I would like to read more from hopefully seasoned investors before I start. That's my story! See you guys around.

Welcome. It's good to start young, even if your income might not allow you to invest a lot even the little amounts will give you experience and help you improve your personal finances in the long run.

    Hi Gelsemium,

I don't have any investments in stocks, I have some money in a fixed deposit with the bank, that gives me an interest rate of 8%.

    Thanks for the welcome, guys!

What? 8% for a bank account? Which bank is this?

    Welcome to the forum Interested!
Those 8% are the yearly amount the account values? Or is it variable and it might even devalue or value less?

It's not the bank interest rate. It's a "fixed deposit" in a bank. And yes, it is 8% annual interest rate. I've invested around 100, 000 and will end up with around 2000 at the end of the year as interest.
