The blame game will never end. While most people say religion is the reason why there's no peace in the world one religious leader, the Pope believes that some "powerful" people should be blamed for wars. His logic? Unless there are wars in the world, companies which manufacture weapons would be out of business. And to keep them in business . . .

Sounds very much like a conspiracy theory. What do you guys think? Are wars started [by some powerful people] so weapons can be sold?

Weapons are not the only thing that is need for all out war. Infrastructure and food is major business when it comes to housing and feeding out troops. Contractors are lining up in hope for stability in the middle east so they can eye gouge the USA on contracted work. Any conflict is big business and the American Tax payers is going to pay the bill while the US Government decides on who gets it. That's where the lobbyist comes in.

It's a known fact that there's big money to be made in war. Remember the US after WW2? Someone was funding all of those countries and guess who helped rebuild...

The pope likes to double talk a lot to appeal to different groups. So he will say something like atheists can still go to heaven, but then he will say something slightly different to appeal to the catholic audience. In fairness though this pope seems to be really good at playing the PR game. Anyway at least this pope is entertaining and funny, he is a lot better then the other pope who was a fossil.

It's true, I think 3 things that prevent world peace 1- people in power(religious and political), they want to stay in power. 2- many people make sooooo much money from it they are not going to give it up. 3- human life isn't worth much nowadays.

War has always been there, war will always be there. It's can be interesting to argue why and who is to blame, but in reality it's never going to change. So buy some defence contractor shares and enjoy the income! :D

The Pope knows what he says and most people who think about it know it as well. The war industry makes billions so there are many many people making a profit and causing wars, I don't doubt that.

I've watched a lot of the pope's speeches and I must say I totally admire him for his sincerity. I don't think he says things just to become popular or well loved by the masses so I know he has a valid proof and reason for his statement. It makes sense if you think about it well because with war comes big money on almost everything from weapons to the basic needs of the people involved.

I guess people are really interested in the day....the world will have that one man who'll rule the whole world...but away from such thoughts, i guess as long as there is greed for power in the world, peace will be costly!

The pope represents a institution built around money. Jesus Christ open spoke against the rich but the catholic church seems to have a lot of money to throw around. It's the PR game.
