The lawsuits and accusations, Google abusing their search dominance in Europe and so on was but a way to limit Google's dominance. The EU was hoping that the outcome of the whole thing would give European companies a fighting chance against Google. But how wrong they were! Apparently, Google is going to fight back with $$$$$. They intend starting this year to invest $100 M in European tech start-ups. And each year they'll be pumping in $100 M so they can retain their dominance in Europe.

Think it's a good time to buy the stocks of these European tech start ups?

Fighting Google is pretty much the same thing as fighting Facebook or other giants, it's virtually impossible because as you say they have tons of money they can invest to improve even more their situation.

I think anybody that takes on any company the size of Google knows they'll have a fight on their hands. Google have the funds to fight any case against them, and even if they choose not to, they'll be able find a way around any situation that arises, due to the money and worldwide influence they have got.

I didn't know the fight is still on. I guess the EU did not succeed with their fight against Google. The company has already established a big name and reputation around the globe so I think the European Union's act of filing lawsuits against Google was a losing game for them right from the start. Google will be here for a long time and they will still keep on growing.

I have to agree, to take in a company the size of Google was always going to be a tough ask, even for the EU. When it comes to these lawsuits, I think it's very rare that any of them will actually get anywhere near a court, most get decided by the big suits and a deal or compromise is usually made anyway.

Google is almost working as the Big Brother nowadays. It really is scary whenever you think about it. Someone is always watching you, whether you like it or not. As much of a conspiracist statement that was, it is the truth.

I agree with that. They can virtually get anything that they want because of the amount of money that they have and the fact that they basically run the Internet. It is absurd that they can still get such a influence after everything that happened in Europe.

Fact is that the EU's meddling made things worse. The European tech companies they thought would benefit from the lawsuit will [most of them] be partially owned by Google so either way the "Europeans" who were supposed to gain, don't. And then come the buy-outs . . .

It's too late to turn the tables on Google now.

Google accounts for 25% of all internet traffic . . . and . . . is used by 60% of online devices daily

25% of all internet traffic is a big figure when you think about it. If you look at all the alternatives that are out there, and Google, one of the oldest ones STILL control a quarter of the market.

I'm not sure if that scary or impressive...

That's what happens, companies want to sue Google? So Google buys them out, problem solved. They have billions so they can buy out pretty much anything they want.
