NEW YORK (Reuters) - Police hunting two escaped convicts for a seventh day on Friday swarmed the heavily wooded area near an upstate New York prison as more details unfolded about a female prison worker's role in their breakout.

New York State Police used Facebook on Friday to broadcast a refined description of the convicted killers Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, changing details about their height, weight and hair color, and plastering the site with photographs of their tattoos.

Joyce Mitchell, an industrial training supervisor in the tailor shop at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York, was being questioned about her possible role in helping the prisoners escape, authorities said.

Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie told CNN on Friday that Mitchell "provided some form of equipment or tools" to the men whose escape from the maximum security prison was discovered early Saturday.

Mitchell was previously investigated by the Inspector General's office of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision after a co-worker filed a complaint about her seemingly close relationship with Matt, the Albany Times Union reported, citing two unnamed people with knowledge of the case. No disciplinary action resulted from the investigation.

Other prison employees are being questioned about possibly helping in the elaborate escape, which involved cutting through steel walls, squeezing through a steam pipe and out of a manhole, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Thursday.

"We're talking to several people who may have facilitated the escape," Cuomo said.

If other prison workers are found to have assisted, the governor said, "you will be convicted and then you'll be on the other side of the prison you have been policing."

Aside from Fox News and CNN for some video, I prefer to pick up the very latest news via Twitter. I get local flavor from the Albany Times-Union and Plattsburgh Press-Republican newspapers. In the last couple of hours the female working in the prison's clothing shop was arrested and charged. From what I read and see, it seems to me that the LEOs have no idea where the escapees are. With all the rain, I don't understand how any scent trail can be followed. Seven days and counting, they could be anywhere, together or separate. A random citizen sighting or a follow-up to a break-in or theft may be the only thing that breaks the case.

I'll wait for the made-for-TV movie to tell the rest of the story...

I still look on the TV for the news. Even though they have some stuff on there that is garbage. I still see the major stuff like the two inmates who escaped that New York prison and are still on the run. The lady who helped them escape was indicted.

If they managed to escape they have well thought out plan so most likely they would be hard to find. It looks like a plot for a movie no question, I just hope they get caught soon enough.

I think with anything like this, it will have been planned and carroied out to perfection. To remain on the run for that long and not get caught, tends to suggest that they will have a lot of people helping them to keep their heads down. Usually somebody will know something, but for it to go on that long, I'd be surprised if they are ever caught, they probably won't even be in the same country by now.

As dangerous as this situation is, I am really excited to see how this all plays out. This is a record breaking manhunt. I'm sure there will soon be a TV show/movie/documentary about this in the soon future.

The likelihood of the two getting caught is quite low. Would the two be still hanging around where the cops and anyone searching for them will find them easily? What if one or both of them have already left the space? What if one or both of them have found a nice place to stay hidden for a little while waiting for things to cool down before they get out and head of to some other "safer" place? They can keep searching but I don't think that they are going to be caught any time soon.

I've been following this story in the UK with interest. I know it's wrong to think like this, after all it's a serious business at a massive cost to society but I do love a good manhunt! I too await the full story and the movie.

I like the BBC coverage better than the 24/7 never ending story on CNN and Fox News. BBC just states the facts, ignoring the pundits, and moves on. Ibid for the SC tragedy coverage. And I am still waiting for the tell-all movie...

Saw this video the other day; Fox news coverage of the escape near the prison. During the live TV news coverage, you can see someone smuggle a bag into that prison. Pretty horrible security if you can smuggle things into a heightened security prison; in broad daylight.
