Sometimes it feels like I've run the genre dry. The best ones I've seen to date are the VHS series. It feels like I've seen almost every horror film there is though! Anyone have any not well known suggestions?
I don't know that I'd call it a horror film, exactly, but a good thriller I recently watched was Contagion. It was released in 2011 and stars Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet. A fun one is the original 1978 Dawn of the Dead. It can be viewed online for free here. Cheers.
Ah! I thought that was a really great one! Probably one of the better trillers I've seen in a while! Thank you for the suggestion!
Classic old horror movies air on the MeTV network -- http://metvnetwork.com/ -- Saturday nights 10 pm to Midnight Eastern. You'll have to check your TV channel lineup for the listing. HTH.
I love some classical horrors. It's just a shame that so many just aren't scary by today's standards. I mean, IT was just boring for me.
Pardon me but I am tired of the vampires and poltergeist. How about a horror story like the chainsaw massacre? Where the killer is unknown and would only be known in the climax? It seems like there are no new writers of horror movies. In the local movies, we have some new writers but not that really good because their horror movies are very predictable. Maybe they still have to refine their stories before writing the script.
You've probably seen them, but just in case you haven't: The first couple of SAW movies. The later ones are pretty crap but the first couple were pretty great... especially the first one! If you are into sci-fi them maybe Pandorum, Event Horizon and Sunshine. Out of those sunshine is the least scary, and not probably even classified as a horror movie, but it does have some horror elements in it.
You know my buddy love Event Horizon, he can't stop raving about it. It is a decent movie. I just thought i twas interesting that the shop actually traveled to hell and back, literally. So yeah, go check out that movie if you can, and go see the remake of The Evil Dead. That was a gorefest of a movie. It had some really creep scenes.
How about the Constantine Series...I swear by the time I was done watching the first season, I had, had enough...too much demonic activity and downright scary...you won't believe but I burnt the DVD afterwards...so that I never have that second thought of watching it again!
