I had seen photos of Hillary's NH campaign with reporters isolated behind a rope. OK, nothing strange about restricting the media movement at an event. It wasn't until this evening that I saw a video of the stroll down the street included a *moving* rope carried by blue shirts. In all my years I've never seen anything like this. At times in past campaigns reporters and cameras have been placed on flatbed trucks or other open vehicles. This was poor form. Really sticks a thumb in the voter's eye. No respect. The lack of a viable alternative Democratic candidate makes Hillary's campaign a coronation and a right of passage. No questions, no answers, no interviews (to date, today a CNN interview was "granted"), just tightly controlled photo ops. Voters deserve better.
I am not really sure what you are objecting to. Naturally public figures have security zones that are indicated in various ways. Without seeing the footage the idea of people holding ropes does nothing to outrage me on the face of it. It could be done sensitively or it could be done insultingly. Context is everything. Was it a public area or private. Were the media briefed in advance? Was it a high risk or low risk environment?
Penny, you clearly haven't yet seen the video yet. HC was walking down the middle of an public, open, residential street in Gorham, NH, on a campaign event. Look up the video on CNN, Fox News, or the other networks. Judge for yourself. I found it absolutely pathetic and disrespectful to the fourth estate and voters.
Can you give us a link to the said video? I want to know what's going on here also. Maybe it has to do with ISIS threats and extra security measures? We don't know at the moment. There is a reason for it, I'm sure. There's something here that we are left in the dark with.
I think at the moment and with the way everyone is concerned about security, it doesn't come as any big surprise really. While it might look like its isolating people, I think most people will understand that safety is going to be the main priority.
I am meant to psychicly know what video you are talking about? Well I don't and so I haven't seen it. If you consider it vital perhaps you should link to it. As for journos, I deal with them on a weekly basis and they are more often offending rather than offended against. I would not worry about protecting their delicate sensibilities. And you still haven;t said why voters should give a damn about what methods they use to control the media scrum.
The Clintons are about as honest, transparent, and trustworthy as a pair of stepped-on rattlesnakes. I'll hand it to Bill - he was actually a likable guy, a good politician, and a decent leader. But Hillary is none of those things.
Oh my goodness. The rope video has been all over the place. Start with these: http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/04/politics/hillary-clinton-rope-line-reporters/ http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/hillary-clinton-campaign-uses-rope-corral-media-new-hampshire https://www.google.com/search?q=hilliary+clinton+gorham+nh+campaign+vIdeo That last link leads to many more excerpts and comments. Poor optics. Poor management. I rest my case.
Some web sites didn't link the actual video. Have a look here; video is on page 2. http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2015/07/0...ications-tries-to-explain-rope-barrier-video/
I am sure that it had to do more with protecting her than anything else. These days, the president's and candidates have to have high security with all the crazy people and terrorists out there. When the president comes to town, they literally block off all the roads and freeways in his route of travel. Being a female candidate probably makes Hilary more of a target and she needs security.
