In Christianity we are taught that God has a plan for all of us. What are your thoughts on this? How are we to know what we are meant to do? Why do we suffer as human beings if there is a plan for us?

I would like to know also. Is there a grand master plan or it's just a cope out reason for people who question GOD.

I don't believe there is a master plan for every living person on the planet. It is certainly not guided or drawn out by a all powerful force that pulls the strings of the puppets. There are a lot of people that does good things in this world. Good for them and it would sound great for God to take responsibility for giving the person that path. But what about the people that are put under torment and horrible deaths? Did God decide that fate for them as well? Did middle eastern women and children that were kidnapped and raped every day by ISIS members in the master plan? Was that drawn out for them since birth? Were the beheading's of Americans in Iraq part of the plan as well? Was that 10 seconds of decapitation a servitude of the greater good?

    I seriously doubt it.

    Suffering - Refiner's Fire

Pain, suffering, being the victim of others - why does it happen?

Some of it is for our benefit, to learn how to bear burdens and seek out answers among family, friends and our God, many humans throughout time still haven't figured out that God isn't doing something "to them", they are growing or not growing from their own actions, both good and bad, and the consequences thereof.

    What about crime?

Those who put others through suffering are being tested as well, but their works are failing by a mile, so would you want to be with THOSE people in the Eternities?

    Me neither.

So God has a set of laws and if you follow the laws that are immutable and unchangeable, you will be with our Heavenly Father (literally, He is the Father of our physical souls) and also with our Eldest Brother who will become our literal father - our names written in His existence and His as scriptures state will be written in ours.

If we only had to worry about becoming sick rather than being impacted by a crazy person or someone who just wants to make others miserable because they are angry or ignorant, the world would be an easy place.

But because the world is slipping back into barbarism of the past, we all are pushed to the limit of asking "Why", because many of the things we are going through just seem absolutely never-ending.

Well, it gets worse as we approach the very last days of Earth - when it will be rolled up as a scroll and become BRAND NEW, the whole Earth our Eden and our Heaven.

So that "Why" is answered, but the other one "Why" are we here at all, that's even easier.

We had no physical bodies like our God - and as we grew in knowledge of our Heavenly Parents, we saw that they were different than we were, so we asked Him to grant us the test of whether we could handle a body with all the concomitant temptations and actions that were heaped upon us after living in perfection with God and all of the human family before we had our bodies.

So you asked to be here - now the hard part - we have a veil over our minds, which thins when we are faithful and of the Holy Spirit. One can feel the veil thin at funerals, births, traumas and quiet moments contemplating the Eternal sacrifice of a loving God and our Eldest Brother who took on our sins, so we could have a chance to be whatever we could be without justice coming to knock at the very end.

Everyday everyone has a moment that isn't perfect but Christ commands us not to give up trying - because even though we can't come close to our Lord, we can try not to make the same mistakes over and over - we're here to learn to control our bodies and minds and many are failing by a landslide, while others see the light at various stages of their lives.

Some who never know Christ but who would have been as "good" as anyone else have no bars to Eternal glory - they are just as responsible for their actions as anyone else, even without Christ in their world view.

I would like to think so. However, seeing the misery and horror of the human condition in my many travels in the world and in life, I, candidly, have serious doubts. I realize "the problem of evil" has been grappled with for ages. It is one thing to think of it philosophically, it is quite another to stare it right in the face.

God gave us free will and all the tools we need so that we discover the mysteries of life and death. We preferred to follow another path and the result is obvious, just look at the world we are living in.

I totally respect your thoughts on this topic but I personally think that nobody has a plan for us except for ourselves, we suffer as human beings because that's what we are, and we came here to do something good with this life, if we fail we need to learn of that experience because life doesn't come with a manual... but at the end of the day all we have is ourselves, if we want to change our life for bad, for good or even if we decide to stop living it's our decision!

I don't think there's any plan at all other than the ones we mkae for ourselves. Only we are in control of our own destiny, not some higher power. We make things happen for ourselves. Likewise, the atrocities that happen all over the world are not "acts of God" - they are all man-made events. If there really was a god then I shudder to think what sort of person they must be...

You and so many others are falling for Satan's insane world view.

If you don't choose evil you will be blessed.

If someone chooses to harm you, that's free will - that God given gift that we came here WITH.

Your free will is to do what you can to protect yourself from those who are so immature in mind, body and soul that they have no idea that their actions have eternal consequences.

If I go with what you say then Christ's death means nothing.

Free will is here - if you deny it or can't accept that some will use it badly, Satan will use you to forward his actions and thoughts...

Freedom of choice/free will is the reason we are here - to PROVE whether we deserve a place with God after this very short mortal life.

Those who HARM are PROVING they do not belong with many of us.

Having a mortal body comes with responsibility and demands adult actions. Those who can't grow up will find they will not be able to live with those they bothered to pretend they cared about in this mortal life.

I don't think so to be honest otherwise we would know what to do instead of choosing your own destiny

As a previous Catholic school student, I had religion class everyday. It really changed me and did give me a sense that God has a plan for everybody. I believe he has one big plan, but so many roads that lead to the ending of that plan. Regardless of what happens in day-to-day life, He has an end result for us all. Now, whenever something goes wrong in my life, I just think that it'll turn out fine as long as I keep my morale up and keep working. In the end, God's plan will take action.
