I have followed the news lately and some people are predicting that the stock market is going to crash in 2015. It can happen any time as they say. With the crash of Chinese stock market, prices of gold, silver dropping like never before. Do you think are we going to face The Great Depression of 1929?

I haven't seen any responsible person predict a USA market crash. How does one define a crash? I've heard some persons suggest a 10% correction could be considered a crash. The more likely 2015 scenarios are rotations into different sectors and the Fed won't raise rates until perhaps 2016. In my opinion, it is the time to be nimble and keep some ammunition (cash) on hand to take advantage of dips. Giddyup.

Everyday someone predicts the end of the world.
Anyone can pick out a few factors and say the sky is falling.
Sure they markets might crash tomorrow, or we may have the best quarter of growth in the last ten years.
If these experts actually know whats going to happen, they would be busy shorting the market.
Or maybe they are and they want you to buy into the fear so they can cash out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a sizeable correction before the end of the year. The markets are still quite high and things such as China slowing down and the strong USD can have a big impact on earnings. But I'm not too worried about it, if the prices do come down then I can just pick up more stocks for less cash.

I expect some degree of pullback, very possibly a correction. But a crash? I don't think so. And by "crash" I'm assuming you're talking about a rapid decline in the market like in 2008. I guess if people talk about the concept enough times over the years they will be right at some point. I just can't quite see it this year.

And that is the #1 reason why we see these articles over and over again. There are some "professionals" out there who just claim that a crash is coming soon every 6 months of so, hoping that eventually they will get the timing right. Then they can claim that they predicted it was coming etc.

I've been waiting for some sort of a stronger correction for 1½ years now but I'm a bit skeptical now since the economy in general seems to be doing ok. Europe might be causing some real waves with their overall crappy finances but that is still years in the future.

Financial crash is coming...bubble will burst.

Agree completely - food, water, cash. Zinder has a point too about gold and silver.

There are always those who have doomsday scenarios on the brain. There is no way we could have a crash like 1929, because there are too many economic safeguards in place now. I think anyone who has stocks today has no reason to panic. The most that will happen according to many people is a correction of the market.

It could be possible but it is hard to say if that is going to happen or not. I cannot say that it can happen if it did then we would be in a slightly better shape then we were in 1929. Since we got better tech yet even with that we would still be doomed.

I agree with most of you guys. I never listen to those experts and their suggestions on buying or selling a stock. They are always wrong. I was curious because some of the markets are coming down like crazy, especially Chinese Stock Market is doomed.

Even if crash doesn't happen, I'm saving some money from my pocket money and will buy when the market plunges.
