Do you see yourself as a spiritual person no matter what religion you practice? Whether you are a Christian, Buddhist, or even a natural spiritual person, I think having some sort of spirit in what you believe is important in life. What do you think?

I am a spiritual person because I regularly go to church and follow my religion's teachings. But I am also human and my human side sometimes prevail over my spirituality. In other words, I am trying to maintain a balance among my spiritual and physical facets. That's what's good in being a Catholic, we have the freedom to do what we want and violating the rules (of the church) is not a crime unlike other churches where you get a reprimand for not going to church regularly.

I don't think I am either religious nor especially spiritual, but I do have an awareness of an appreciation for both, particularily spirituality. I do like the traditions of religion and the music. I agree with love as the philosophy and underpinning of most religious traditions, however, we as human beings have really mucked them up.

I like to think that I'm a spiritual person, but that's mostly related to my degree, which is philosophy. I've read so much about theology and things related to God that you being to understand what a religion truly is. I'm guessing this kind of understanding if what most people lacks to understand the true role of religion in our society.

I would love for someone to define spiritual. I am totally unconvinced that religious claims about divinity and such are true, so if superstition and pretending to know things you can't know are what you mean by spiritual, then I'm out. If you simply mean to think and feel outside yourself, as in being selfless or seeing yourself as part of an interconnected nature, then sure. If you just mean less concerned with materialistic or physical things, then sure. But I don't need the word "spiritual" for that.

All the common definitions of spiritual I believe are in use have to do with things that we have no reason to believe are true or real, but want to or let ourselves buy - such as having to do with a "soul."

I think that the best way to measure spirituality it through kindness, if we are good to each other that is the best way to express our connection to god.

I believe in God, but do not go to church. I find spirituality in nature and just being a good person. There is something about hiking a trail or standing next to a flowing river that makes you really appreciate that you cam from somewhere and I do not think it is all just science.

I feel the same way exactly. I was raised as a catholic, but growing into my own stance on religion. I definitely believe in God, and I'm not going to outright shun what I've been taught as a christian, but I don't actively attend church or participate in any other of the formalities that I grew up with. I believe in maintaining a healthy balance between seeking personal happiness and being a good person over anything else. I've read the bible, and I speak to and thank God for everything he's given me. I just don't think much more than that is really necessary.

I'm not religious. There are too many denominations and so much hatred and lies being preached by religious leaders. I won't be a part of it. But I do believe in God and try to live my life as I am expected to. Love your neighbors, live the golden rule . . . I don't know if that makes me spiritual.

I agree with you, as humans is important to have something to believe in, something to prove us that we are something more than flesh and we have a real propose... But personally I think that I haven't really found something specific to believe in, so I don't consider myself as a spiritual person, but it would be interesting to do some research about religion theories to see if one of them is appealing to me.
