When a teen expressed his desire to drink, the parents decided to teach him a lesson by letting him drink enough alcohol to make him sick. They thought that maybe afterwards he no longer would be interested in liquor. Unfortunately though the teen imbibed so much alcohol that he died from alcohol poisoning.

How stupid parents are these days? If a parent is doesn't want their child being addicted to alcohol aren't there better ways to make their child understand that alcohol isn't that good for them?

The couple will be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Stupid. The concept itself is not that bad, it could work really well. But they should use the one braincell that they both share and make sure he doesn't drink like this, there is no need to down a lot of alcohol to get drunk when it's your first time. I remember not even having hangovers during the first couple of years since I needed so little alcohol to get drunk.

That wasn't necessary at all, if they wanted him to know that alcohol wasn't a good option, they should have shown him few medical and psychological articles about how alcohol affects your body... It's true that all parents make mistakes and that there's no guide for parenting, but this is just ridiculous.

I have 8 brothers, all older than me since I am the youngest in the brood of 12. When some of my brothers were in their teenaged years, my father engaged them in a drinking session. That is to teach them how to drink properly, my father said. In the process, 2 of my brothers got so drunk that they passed out. My father was laughing and happy with that because he said that would teach my brothers a lesson not to drink in excess of what their body can take. But if one of my brothers died, it probably would be another story.

What a couple of unbelievably brainless parents. He's hoping they throw the book at both of them.

And my parents actually allowed us to drink in adolescence. It was partially because it is part of our ethnicity and culture, but also a way for us to enjoy wine in moderation with dinner. You know, drinking responsibly and enhancing a meal with family, not being a drunken buffoon. I like the way the handled it; e.g., not a forbidden thing to use in excess, but a normal part of the dining experience to have in small amounts.

There should've been a course in parenting at your local ministry. It should be a requirement before marriage or required units in college. Hell, parenting should be taught in high schools since kids these days practice pre-marital sex anyhow. Just don't let your kids near those stuff and it will all work out if you're a responsible adult.

    Why "These days?"
From what older people tell me, this was a VERY COMMON thing to do when it came to alcohol and tobacco. These were probably some parents who were stuck in the past. Geeze I even recall that my grandparents used to give me alcohol as a "medicine" and friends said their grandparents did the same.
Got a cold, oh well a shot of whisky in a hot toddy will "kill" the germs (it doesn't) and putting creme de menth on ice cream is good for mouth/teeth discomfort.
Yes these parents are idiots, should and charged with a criminal offence.
There have been idiots since the beginning of time, and there will be until the end of time.

Some things never change. It is true ScooterBrandon I recall when I grew up that was exactly the way that people handled smoking and drinking. In fact it was practice to give a teething baby a rub of some sort of alcohol on the gums to help settle the child. These days parents use a topical drug so really it has not changed at all. I think what has changed is the way that news is shared. In the past reporters could tell the difference between something that was intentional and something that was an accident. there was effort made to protect people and privacy. These days those choices are left to whomever is holding the ****** at that instant. It isn't so much about news anymore, these days it is more about who can capture what dirt that will make them a viral sensation.

Parenting classes should be mandatory for all parents. I mean honestly, have you ever heard of anything so stupid? It reminds me of the parents that killed their young daughter by making her drink two liters of soda. Some people are just too stupid to be parents. It is insane what those people did. I hope they get years to think about it behind bars.
