Back when I was in school [it was a boarding school] I heard stories there was one student who used to allegedly pack some things into a bad, and try to go home. The guards at the gate would stop him and he'd come back, still asleep and next morning he wouldn't remember a thing from the previous night. But like I said, they were just stories . . .

But I'm starting to believe in the story might actually be true. A sleepwalking woman walked nine miles, stopped at a convenience store and even got on a bus all while still asleep.

Scary it is. Do you lock someone who sleepwalks in their room so they don't get themselves killed?

Does anyone else find sleepwalking to be pretty creepy? To me the idea and the thought of doing it just creeps me the hell out! I quite believe this story is possible. My older sister used to sleepwalk when she was a kid and my dad has told me stories of when she would just walk past their bedroom in the dead of night and go down the stairs.

Sleepwalking worries me a little because I live alone and in the past few months I've had the odd time where I've become semi-conscious when I've been unlocking my door and one time I remember even opening it. My worry is that I'm gonna lock myself out one night!

It seems that just recently, there have been more and more stories making the headlines were people have done alsorts of different things while sleepwalking.

Here in the UK there was a story about a child, no older than ten that had managed to make it to the other side if a city before she woke up and needed help.

Her parents of course were frantic and didn't know what had happened until she was caught on CCTV and it all became clear.

I agree sleepwalking is very creepy. I knew a person one time who use to get up and eat in her sleep. She would wake up in the morning and everything would be on the counter where she has prepared her meal but she wouldn't recall ever having made anything or eaten. She was gaining weight and couldn't figure out why because through the day she was watching what she ate and exercising.

I heard that on the news. It sounds like the strangest thing ever. However, I have heard of other weird things like sleep eating. Even murders have been committed supposedly while asleep. I had a roommate who sleep walked a time or two, it scared me to death, because one time she leaned over my bed!

Have you got a link to the story at all? I'd like to give it a read as it sounds pretty fascinating! Heaven knows what the parents were going through when they found she had gone from her room and I can imagine the girl must have been a bit terrified when she woke up.

I've been thinking about this, and does anyone else think creations such as zombies have their roots based in sleepwalking? Think about it, when you sleepwalk you are essentially a zombie right?

Sleep eating? Now that's something new I've never heard of. I suppose it occurs at the same time the person is sleepwalking? Had a quick look at Wikipedia:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturnal_sleep-related_eating_disorder
So this apparently happens when the unconscious mind takes over.

It is very creepy. I hope she was okay and maybe does some sleep studies so she can figure out how to get ahold of this and change it. She could get seriously injured.

The mind, when left to it's own devices, is a pretty terrifying thing in the stuff it can make you do.

On a light-hearted note, while reading that I had the image in my head of Homer Simpson when he goes to the kitchen in the middle of the night and eats 64 slices of cheese.

Sleepwalking can be very dangerous and just how do you find out when someone does it? For children it's really dangerous and parents should always look out for this, although it is rare.

As she had a history they knew it was a possibility, but even locked doors make no difference as people seem to act as if they are conscious. It makes you wonder how the mind works and if all we do is actually a conscious act or are we all controlled to a degree subconsciously?
