There's one Priest who claimed he could see dead people. Sounds like fiction? He could not only see dead people but also communicate with them. He told his superiors and they told him his gift was from the devil. Their advice to him was that he should pray so the "gift" could be taken away. But reading that story had me wondering whether one can't be both Christian and a psychic. I know a Catholic woman who claims she's psychic. She, like the priest can communicate not only with the dead but also with other spirits. Is a psychic "evil?"

Our country is predominantly Christian. We have an array of the so called faith healers who not only cure sick people but there are claims that some faith healers have given life to dead people. I think it is a phenomena that is difficult to debunk simply because they have proof of the pudding. The testimonies of those healed are documented. One such healer si Fr. Fernando Suarez who is a Filipino priest stationed in Canada. He came back to his country to launch his healing crusade. I know of some people who got cured with the healing of Fr. Suarez.

Religion and psychics don't mix often. I know my old landlady was Catholic and I told her what my book was about and she said her faith didn't allow her to believe in the afterlife or such things. I also had a Christian neighbor and when she was struggling I told her to go for a reading and she refused as she was taught it was unholy.

There is the Long Island Medium ( a US TV show) and she was brought up Catholic and a recall an episode where she spoke of her issue that she was brought up not to believe and suppressed what she could see and hear. In another episode she talks with her father (living) and asks him what he thinks with all her success and does he believe, and he admitted there must be something in it.

Sometimes dogma stops people from looking at things beyond what is happening. It's why many people who are psychic keep it quiet or choose not to reveal what they can see or hear.

Sounds like these people are what are known as mediums who claim they can communicate with the dead.

I'm open-minded about these sorts of things. The one on one psychic sessions might have something to them but the mass sessions seem to be pretty predictable to me.

A lot of what psychics do is a method of "cold reading", and is in fact based on generalizations they throw out at groups of people. If they see the right response cues from a specific person they latch onto that person and try to dig for more information using a line of influential questioning. It's really about deception. As a Christian I can tell you that I do not believe you can be both psychic and Christian. The whole idea of tapping into the spirit realm to connect with the dead flies in the face of Christianity. Plus, I just don't believe that being a psychic is equatable to having the ability to talk to the dead. I think it's just more of a gimmick to make money.

I don't think psychic and Christianity mix. I don't think you could be both. I certainly don't believe that their is a Priest who sees and communicates with the dead. People will believe him though. I am skeptical about a lot of things when it comes to psychic powers and stuff like that.

That's demonic and nothing else. It's against God and the bible and dead people can't come back to see us. If someone claims they're talking to dead people, or have psychic powers, they are communicating with actual demons.

    I call BS.
No one can see dead people or communicate with them.
Well actually ANYONE can see dead bodies and talk to them, but I assume that's not exactly what this guy meant.

    How would you explain this?

And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. 13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. 14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

The prophecy given to Saul was accurate. Fact is demons can't predict the future because they like humans don't know the end from the beginning [so to say]. So was the spirit summoned by the witch Samuel himself?

In this day and age there are people who will believe in them and other that won't and will not regardless of what they witness. There is evidence that is does exists, but it's free will to want to accept that belief. Some people will never admit to it, just as they can't accept a relationship is over when they have been dumped or divorced.

If churches do exorcisms, doesn't that mean that spirits do communicate and that they talk to them to go away? I don't believe in exorcisms as in banishing spirits, but I do think if there is a presence that doesn't feel good, you should ask it to leave.
