I see that the housing market is starting to increase in some areas as well as the interest rates are increasing. When is the best time of year to buy?

Sales are particularly down during the winter. Many people want to get out during the summer to look at homes. Many agents have a slump in activity during these months. This may help you to negotiate better because they need the sale!

The best times to buy are during a crisis, but that means a long term investing and to have capital to invest when there is no credit, but after the crisis is gone huge profits appear.

Are we talking about strictly investment purposes or buying your own house?
In the investment scenario, a crisis is always a good time. If you want a season, winter might be best since usually it's a bit more quiet then.

If it's for yourself, then the best time is when you want/need to buy one.

I've always said that that best time to buy a home is when everyone else isn't buying... and before those interest rates increase further.

Best time of year? If it's in a cold/snowy climate, I'd guess winter. Places with year-round warmer temps.. well, I really don't know about those types of locations. I think that the best time to buy real estate is when the market is so low that not many people can afford buying and sellers are overly anxious to sell.

The best time to buy a house to live in is when you see something you could call home. For investment purposes, buy low so you can sell high. Buying low means buy in a recession when the prices and interest rates go down.

I think you gave the best reply. Sure the market for housing is slower in the winter as compared to the summer because less people are out and about during the harsh cold weather, but the truly RIGHT time to buy is when you come across a home that is cheap. You could turn the house around and end up making a profit from it! Play your cards wisely.

Yeah, if we are looking for a home for us to live in, nothing like the one that feels like home, don't go live to a place where there is no click. If it's for investment, buy low and sell high is a good general premise... :)

    Best Time to Buy

I can only speak of my experiences.
If you were keeping the house to live in, then I thought the best time time to buy was the winter.
That time of year the house may have been on the market for months. The owners are eager to get rid of it.
If there weren't any great repairs needed then you should be able to cut the price by 7/10%.

What does the winter has to do with the house being on the market? I think there is not a specific time of the year that is better than other, but maybe I am missing the point here?
