It was bound to happen sooner or later. Not this hate crime. Many people dislike Muslims and this is not something that would be kept secret forever. It appears that Texans are the first [and won't be the last] to express their hatred which has for a long time been kept buried. https://www.rawstory.com/2015/12/te...lim-family-only-six-weeks-after-they-move-in/ We say we hate terrorism but don't hesitate to use the same disgusting tactics?
This is a perfect example why ignorance isn't bliss and education, especially emotional and cultural education/sensitivity is vital in any curriculum. I feel very sad that this has to happen.
I'm actually surprised it took this long for an attack like this one to happen. The location however does not surprise me. It's not good at all that this is starting to happen and there are bound to be a few more reports of this nature soon. It's really the wrong way to go about it though because attacks like this are only going to cause Muslim populations to consider ISIS's actions as something good.
This isn't a surprise that Muslim businesses and homes will be targeted and people shunned. That's why media propaganda is dangerous as it reaches those who really don't understand certain things and attack the innocent. If anything it creates a huge divide, first it's black people, and now it's Muslims.
Anyone who attacks another person or their property simply because of that other person's religion, race, nationality, etc is the worst kind of moron. This "tribalism" mentality some idiots have that manifests itself in such criminal actions needs to be punished severely. We've seen this stupidity played out quite a bit towards whites in urban areas recently, and now it's unfortunately spreading to innocent muslims by non-muslims. It needs to be stopped regardless.
And yet we sit back and do nothing to the "peaceful" muslims who say they disagree with the "radicalized" muslims, yet do nothing to stop their radical brothers and sisters who live right here in the good old U.S. of A. We're a nation of do-nothings, and when someone actually does do something..........oh my......they're emotional idiots.
Wow, first I'm hearing of this. I don't condone any of that nonsense. The country is rapidly boiling over into complete turmoil; racial tensions are worse than ever, terrorism has people on edge, college campuses erupting into protests (over what, exactly, I'm still not quite sure). I think a major culprit in all this is the media, distorting and sensationalizing in the interests of their self-preservation.
Not sure if I understand exactly what you're saying here. I've said myself in this very forum that non-radical muslims do need to do more to try to stop the radicals, such as turning such people in to law enforcement. Of course many of them are no doubt afraid, just as many in Ferguson, Mo were afraid to tell the police what REALLY happened between Mike Brown and Darren Wilson. As for "doing something" vs "doing nothing", am I understanding correctly that you are actually defending the targeting of innocent people of one demographic being victimized by people of other demographics simply because OTHERS in that first demographic have done bad things? This "tribalism", collectivism, etc is exactly what I'm talking about. We are (or should be) a nation of individuals who should be judged by our own individual actions, merits, etc. What exactly is achieved when some urban thug in my city sees Dylan Roof do the sick things he did, then decides to get some warped sense of "justice" by coming into my neighborhood and targeting ME simply because I'm also white - despite the fact that I have virtually nothing else in common with that Roof idiot? You might as well be saying that it's ok for LE to go ahead and execute ME as well, since I'm also white.
Oh, oh, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Is this the reaction we are going to make with those Muslim terrorist acts? So that means we are getting bad because of them. For Christians, doing an act of violence is unchristian so why do it? Just because some Muslim jihadists are wreaking havoc all over the world is not a good enough reason for us to be violent too. And I'd say that religious discrimination, although an age-old problem, is not the answer to the problems in this world.
To my mind multiculturalism has failed. It seemed like a lofty idea: mix all the races and cultures of the world, and everyone would be forced to live in unison with one another. But the reality is that different cultures also want to remain unique, and living in a great big melting pot leads actually to more violence and hatred, not less. I'm certainly not endorsing what these people in Texas are doing, but we can hardly act like we didn't know it was coming.
