That's a good observation, brianna... maybe it's not supernatural at all and they can just "put two and two together" better than the rest of us. That's kind of what I was saying in the other post about doing their homework. Maybe they just retain facts and statistics better and can surmise what probably happened, where a criminal would run to, and so on. Interesting thought.
Like with everything people do. Some are frauds ans some are not. We should all know about famous Bulgarian psychic Vanga. I am not sure she ever worked with Police but her predictions were scary. She predicted the exact date of her death. I believe there are people wit thee abilities and I wouldn't call them powers like they are some superhero freaks. It is most probably connected with some part of the brain that is not working with most people. I never heard of anyone helping the police but I know quite a few that help people all the time.
They are definitely frauds. All psychics use cold reading techniques that are just based off of reading people and psychology. They aren't making any real readings. They just put out information to test out what you will react to then they base their answers off the persons reaction.
I both agree and disagree. Maybe 99% of psychics are fake and the 1% are real but with no accuracy because they had wrongly interpreted what they had read. I believe that there is a dimension where you can see the future. This was explained by a researcher on the subject that dwarfs and other ethereal beings are in the other dimension and those beings can help us in the prediction.
I think they are the real thing. I watched a show some years ago which documented the a case where a woman went missing and different woman went to the police because she had a psychic vision of what had happened to her. The police investigated and what she said turned out to be true, she was murdered and left in the middle of nowhere. The woman was then arrested on suspicion of the murder because she knew so much about what happened but of course she was released once the real culprit was caught. She then later helped the police solve more similar crimes and I think the police might have even employed her.
Some police forces will use a psychic to help them out, but due to public perceptions they may not reveal this. Some psychics may be afraid they will become suspects too, so they have to trust the police too. Often there will be some kind of relationship between them. Maybe people ask psychics for help when the police can't find anything either. Some crimes can't be completely solved when there is no evidence, and the psychic can only see what the spirit can, and if they didn't see that much, then the information would be limited.
There are too many psychics that have been used in crime investigations that are right on. As for the TV psychics I agree with Corzhens...some are frauds and some have real ability. Or some may take the little abiity they have and milk it for all it is worth. It is some of the informaiton you can find when you look at their backgrounds.
Wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. I would think that most people believe that physical evidence and old-fashioned detective work is far more reliable.
I never thought of that aspect of it, Alex... that's a good thought. If a psychic suddenly knows where to "find the body" so to speak, I suspect it *would*... even in just a slight way, give cause then to at least be looked at initially as a suspect. Interesting observation there!
I don't believe on those things... I think that they jusst were lucky or maybe it was a suggestion thing. I am aware that mind is a really powerful thing but nothing more, I don't think that there's such thing as real physics.
