Nobody seemed to think that myspace was going to go down and yet it did. Facebook has gotten controversial and I think that they have driven a lot of users away. So much social media out there that its not hard to find something else to post on.

Is that all you read of my post was the word whore? Pretty sure my comments define my meaning rather well. Are you saying you don't agree with my comment?

Interesting what everyone thinks. I am sure something else will come along and grab a mass of people and Facebook will be left in the dust like Myspace. It's bound to happen at some point. Nothing lasts forever. I hardly ever go on Facebook myself anymore and neither does my teenager.

I do not have kids which I would not need to worry about it soon. I just do have the same feelings as some other people about social media usage. I would not say that Facebook is destined to close down at all. I was just thinking that there is room for more growth, but that varies on the market.

I think they made a wise decision by buying the Oculus Rift. The future is still VR. If regular social networking starts failing then they will go into full virtual reality, or attempt to. I still don't feel the drop in users as I did with MySpace back in 07-08.

Oculus Rift and all other companies, Facebook and all other sharks are already preparing the future, that is how they remain giants in the present.

I think that Facebook isn't so much going to disappear as it is going to modify itself. We can already see the demographics shifting to an older crowd using it for professional networking. Plus, it has such a large following that it presents a huge barrier to entry for its competition as they would have to get people to sign up for another social media website when they use Facebook for most of their social networking. As for it making money, however, I see it struggling in the future.

I don’t want to be negative but, all good things must come to an end. I’m just joking. Facebook, I’m sure has something up its sleeve. Facebook is a very popular social media site and I know it knows that many other social media sites are competing with it. As a result, I don’t think they are laying back and enjoying their money. I believe that Facebook is working hard to stay on top because if it should fall for even a moment, it is going to be hard to get back up.

I don't see Facebook fading away anytime soon. They don't have a competitor other than Twitter and even then they are just different enough that people use both. When the next big thing in social media comes along then they will have to worry. A lot of big companies Disney being one are moving to invest in games and apps geared for use with Facebook.

Facebook might be slowing down in the US, but there is a new generation who still uses it, and 3rd world countries will be using it in ever growing numbers.

I wouldn't give up on it yet.
