Fight fire with fire is how Russia plays their game. Sanctions were imposed against Russia over their involvement in the Ukraine crisis. And what does Russia do to fight back?
Much as some analysts say this embargo won't 'hurt' the West that much, the farmers who used to export to Russia will be the ones who'll most certainly feel the full force of that ban. And the new cold war is on . What effect do you think this will have on Europe, the U.S and probably the rest of the world?

I think it will make Russia much stronger. There are huge deals going on with S.America, China, Iran, India etc... all very much ditching the U.S $. That is what will hurt the U.S.

Europe is already in deep trouble and Germany is the core bolster to the E.U economy but Germany is especially reliant on trade with Russia and these sanctions are deeply abhorred by business leaders in Germany and many other European countries because they realise how badly it will affect the companies and the already ailing economy. You only need look at Adidas and Volkswagen to get some idea of the impact.

Russian gas and oil is vital to Europe. Yatsenyuk is threatening to cease transiting Russian gas which will massively debilitate the Eurozone should that happen. I doubt Europe will let Ukraine do that but it should be noted the 'intent is there' and as Ukraine takes its orders from Washington, where do you think that plan originated?

Biden's son is heading up the Ukrainian gas company

    Says it all really!

It's a testimonial to the current sad state of affairs in this country that it even had to come to this. If we had a strong leader in office, he would have simply picked up the phone and told Putin what to do and not to do years ago, and Putin would have listened or else. Now we're playing these games too little too late.

I'm not so sure if sanctions are the right way of approaching things. It seems as though sanctions are hurting the wrong people, and will only hurt the citizens, and not the government itself. Perhaps Russia will get stronger, but I don't know how much of their imports relies on the western world.

China is getting stronger by the moment who knows when they will rise to take the opportunity. Russia is not fairing off too good with the ban of US products which I heard it on the news. I think that is a bad move and without import business from the west China would end up stealing those imports from underneath Russia's nose.

I wish I knew someone Russian. I'd love to know the truth on how it's affecting Russians and not the political jargon coming from both sides.

As for the Russian ban... I think the ban will affect American farmers and agricultural-related companies. How much? I don't know. But I think any loss is a problem, especially during a recession.

The only positive consequence from this debacle that I can see right now is: Americans will learn to live without Russian support. That's good with the kind of history we have with Russia. I think this is what Russia is looking for too. They've been wining-n-dining Latin America for several years now. They probably knew it would come to this all along. And they didn't want to be left the loser. It probably has also been part of their goal all along to be independent of America.

I don't know any Russian people either so I would not know where to look around to see how its affecting them. Its feelings go back and forth between liking them and hating them. Every move that is being made hurts economical development and I think banning imports is what is hurting them.

Humans are complicated intelligent beings who have not found a perfect way to co-exist in peace. It is amazing that it has come to this, the farmer or any other individual company that requires their business is the worst hit by this decision. The beauty of humankind is the power of hope, they will find an alternative market and things will work out eventually.
