My government has started a program where senior citizens are given a fund every month to cater for their expenses. This is a God sent for most of them as they do not struggle to have food on their table. Do you have a similar program in your region?

We have retirement homes where seniors can go to if mistreated by their children and live free of cost. So I've heard. I personally would not send my parents to a home. They are in their 60s currently and independent but when time comes and they need me I will be there for them.

That is good to hear about free homes; elderly persons with no one to take care of them are taken care of. The homes available for the elderly in my region charge a fee to take care of the elderly. I agree with you that it is best to take care of a loved one instead of taking them to a home if one is able to.

I wish my town has a program like yours does. Its like we have some senior citizen homes but not programs that would help them if they are abused. Its a stressful situation for the elderly when they cannot get the help from their flesh and blood.

In my region, there are very few places for the elderly to go. Some of them become prostitutes or drug dealers to survive, I have heard of some seniors that sell drugs to their own grandchildren to earn money. Some of the senior men are homeless and they sit in the park or hide from people because being homeless is illegal in this region. People get angry when they see a homeless person sleeping and they call the police to report the person for sleeping in public. The senior apartments here have 6 - 12 year waiting lists.

Just read a news article where a daughter found her mom with bruises on her body given to her by a nurse. How could you do that ?

It makes me but wonder, why would i mistreat a person who blew my nose, taught me potty training, fed me, clothed me and did all those things i could not do for myself when i was a baby?...i remember when my mom was sick i tried my level best to be of service to her and i must agree it pleased GOD's heart...and people ask why curses follow them...its the things you do to others!...just sad :(

Many government of developed countries have a system to care of the senior citizens. I hope such a system arises in my country also which can be helpful to the people. I am happy that such a government has com up in your country. This should come up in all the government for the development of the people.

Senior citizens in the US are eligible for social security once they turn 65. I think that all countries should have a similar program in place. Once you are 65+ it is very hard to find any type of work. Hopefully most have saved for their retirement but some people aren't in a position to do so. I think senior citizens deserve to get benefits after contributing to society for so many years.

Well done, good action made by your country. In my country the senior citizens are seeing their pensions cut to pay for the crisis, can you believe it?
