I am a newbie with the whole stock thing. I would like to know what is the best online broker site for new people like me. I am trying to get as much information as I can before I make any decision on where to invest my money. Any and all advice will be helpful for me.

After doing research on my own a few years ago I personally decided to go with TD Ameritrade. TD Ameritrade offers brokerage accounts with attractive basic qualities to newbies and people looking to open trading accounts without extremely high minimum initial deposits.
Some of the benefits of TD Ameritrade include:
    -Mobile Phone App
    -No Minimum Opening Amount
-Flat rate $9.99 trading fees on Stocks, Indexs, etc.
    -Access to Mutual Funds, ETFs,
    -Access to Commission-Free ETFs
-Free and Easy Dividend Reinvestment on many stocks, funds, etc.
-Great research tools including stock and mutual fund screeners.

I'd go with TradeKing. You get tons of investing resources, no minimum balance requirements, and $4.95 trading fees for buy and sell orders. The company allows you to manage your investments with ease, including dividend reinvestment. TradeKing offers a decent smartphone app to manage everything, and I'd give them a four out of five rating for investors of all experience levels.

I just signed up with an account for TD Ameritrade, but have not had a chance to really play with it yet. I am very new as well and it seemed easy enough.

Hello this is something that I have been looking into as well because I see that there are a lot of people who get scammed so I am just hoping that taking my time will allow me to choose the right one for me.

I guess TD Ameritrade I do not use it. I never traded stocks so I might check that site out. If they are not having a minimum investment to use then that would be better to go with so won't have to risk too much.

I would plan on starting with Scottrade - TD Ameritrade is good but Scottrade requires less money & also is cheaper to trade.

I am using Fidelity currently. I don't believe it is the most beginner friendly because of the high initial deposit for traditional/Roth IRA accounts, ($2,500). Commission costs are on the higher end, ($7.95 per trade). But overall, I am happy using them for an online brokerage. I am curious about the phone app, Robinhood. I need to do more research on that.
