Hi, I travel very often and will like to buy a very good laptop to bring with me. Any suggestion? Is for trading.
Hey Dariel, Personally, your laptop option will depend entirely on how many programs and browser tabs you keep open (I wouldn't do any backtesting on a laptop since it is too time consuming -- I leave that for a more powerful desktop). I usually stick with metatrader 4, and firefox on my cheapo Dell. Just in case you're wondering, I use a Core i5 with 4 Gigs of ram -- nothing special, and it does the job. Of course, more is always better. Be sure and have a decent clearing for the exhaust/fan to prevent overheating. Use a laptop stand with a fan to prevent overheating; the last thing you want is for your computer to shutoff in the middle of a trade due to overheating.
You would need a powerful yet slim laptop. I think ultrabooks would be a wise choice. I'd recommend you to buy HP Envy 17-j130us. It has 17.3 inches screen and is a touch laptop. It's quite powerful since it has i7-4700MQ processor. You could replace the HDD with SSD if you want better performance. [h=3][/h]
I agree on this, something that isn't too big, but is still good specs-wise. The HP Envy series are usually good for this. You could also look into Asus as I've seen them produce some decently priced laptops for your purposes.
I liked your opinion. You are a very gentle and I will take your advice and recommendations. In this moment I'm working from a mini notebook to buy a good laptop, so work without problems. Thank you for taking the time to comment
I suggest something with a big screen for analyzing. I run MT4 platform for trading and most of my indicators on multiple charts run my laptop to a crawl at initial start up. So I would say, large screen, decent cpu with sufficient ram, and a fan for overheating should suffice.
Like others said, if you're like me and find yourself keeping 50 tabs open at a time along with 3 other programs and you would like your computer to remain usable, then something with 8GB of RAM and a good processor would be better for you. If you don't do too much on your computer, than something with a bit less power would probably suit you (although more power is always better).
I agree, something slim and light would be your best choice, since you travel a lot. Ultrabooks would be a good choice. Personally, I like ASUS ultrabooks because they are very durable. Also, look into something with a long battery life. Back when I shopped for laptops (just over a year ago) Sony ruled in this department. Honestly, you don't need monster specs, even if you multitask a lot. Any modern ultrabook should be able to keep up with you.
I have always used a Toshiba Satelite. They are light weight, and the battery will last six to eight hours on a single charge. You can also upgrade to a 12 hour battery if needed. Besides that the Satelite is reasonably priced and comes fully loaded with the typical Microsoft suite of programs. The CPU is from AMD.
