Unfortunately that's just not the kind of person that gets elected or even gets involved in politics, if Joe Average, who only wants to fix the country's problems and is a genuine patriot ran for office, he probably wouldn't get elected for a number of reasons.
True, honesty is not a requirement in politics, it's exactly the opposite, they need to tell what people want to hear, not the truth.
Who's fault is that, though? The politicians or the constituents who easily fall for lies and half truths? I'd say it's the fault of both, but the people deserve a lot of the blame. A lot of folks don't want to think about serious issues and want to forget the real problems in the world through various escape mechanisms such as the internet or reality tv. If people were willing to listen to the cold hard truth perhaps politicians would be a little more likely to give it to them.
And that's what repulses me about politics, i sit there and be feed lies continually and then trot of to the polling booth, saying am standing for my right, yes, my right to be lied to...what a dummy
I think Hillary's latest gaffe is just further evidence she is not fit to be president. If you're not familiar with the gaffe, she said that businesses and corporations do not create jobs. That's one of the most bizarre and ignorant things I've ever heard a politician say. Truly embarrassing. Hopefully the Republicans are effective in using it against her in 2016.
I think that she just might get it not due to her credits, but because she's a woman. After a black guy, now a woman, but who cares, the politics will be the same.
I think it would be great to have a female President of the United States. But I'm not really very fond of Hilary Clinton. I know that she is the Democratic front runner even though she hasn't officially declared her intention to run. I really hope to see others step up to the plate. I do agree that she has enough experience serving in Congress and as Secretary of State. I'm not worried about her qualifications. I just don't particularly care for her.
She has big experience considering she was the first lady and was said that she influenced some policies, but I don't know if that will be an advantage or not.
Wouldn't be surprised if Hillary Clinton is challenged by Elizabeth Warren. I think Warren fits today's Democratic Party better than Clinton. Clinton speaks the language of a progressive but deep down I don't think she believes a lot of the stuff she says. How could any rational person? Warren is a true blue progressive. The Democrat Party isn't a centrist party anymore but a progressive one. She'd have a real shot at the nomination, I think.
I have absolutely no problem with a female president if she is competent, respects and defends the Constitution, and protects the American people. I absolutely do have a problem with Hilary Clinton as I believe she will accomplish none of those things. Her time as first lady of Arkansas and the country are of little interest, her time as a Senator was nothing to get excited about, and her time as a Secretary of State was marked but utter incompetence (e.g., the handling of the Arab spring, relations with Russia, Benghazi, etc.). Finally, she is as almost as "big government" left wing as the present administration, so I don't see that being particularly helpful to protecting Constitutional liberties nor the health of the economy. In so many words, no thanks.
