Hacking is a serious crime gmckee1985, but at the same time there is no internet police, so who's going to fight those crimes?

Hacking seems to be a norm now and it makes me a little afraid to have an electronic presence in this world. It is a crime, but unfortunately it is so rampant that I am not sure the government has enough resources to deal with it all. I think they are more concerned with large scale data breeches.

Apple wasn't "hacked". The users' passwords were guessed correctly. There was no breach of Apple's encryption system.

There is a big difference between someone disabling your home alarm system by exploiting vulnerabilities versus being dumb enough to have simple passcode like "1234" and have anyone guess it. That is what has happened with iCloud situation.

Here's the thing, at least they know they've been hacked! Just imagine how many places have been hacked or have no idea they are hacked... Smaller companies don't have the resource that larger companies do so they are much more at risk.

Haha, so that's a major plus, we were hacked and we know it... :) I think Apple has to offer other safety to their users.

It does seem like every week there is a new news story about a breach or some company getting hacked. I thought there was security in place that could handle these attacks. These hackers have great skill and ability to get over the seemingly best security technology out there. Should we worry or are they going to beef up security actions?

Apple's storage, like any other will never be perfect. It looks like they're going to have to put a lot more work into weeding out vulns though, because they're been hit quite hard recently as they are one of the biggest companies in the world, they're going to see themselves targeted a lot more than the others. In any case, Apple needs to protect themselves a little more, as these guys are pretty aggressive.

That's true, there will never be 100% security on the internet, but the service needs to be reliable or else people will stop trusting in it, so that's something for Apple to solve.

It will only affect their stocks if it keeps happening. Right now Apple is at the top of their game. People still want what they offer despite the hick-ups. Also, hacks are happening around the place. If you were to avoid every place, company, store, product that had been hacked, it would leave you with little choice. And as we all know, we Westerners love having a choice. So, all these different hacks are getting people accustomed to the possibility... and this gives Apple some room for these types of hick-ups.
