Family should be off limits - kids especially. It's wrong when it's done to Obama's family, and was wrong when done to Bush, Clinton, Carter, et al. There should be accountability regardless of which party is in office or who does the heckling.

Obama may have screwed up, a lot. But all that is his responsibility. If someone wants to criticize anyone, or the president to be precise, then they know the right person to direct their barbs at and let the kids alone. It's shameful, disgusting, etc, etc deed. But the ONE rule shouldn't apply only to Obama. It should cut across the spectrum because I'm sure this isn't the first or last time, the children of political office-holders are "bullied" on the web.

You are correct. I remember that incident very well. However, those girls were freshmen in college. In other words they were legal adults. However, people still should never have criticized them.
I also remember when journalists stupidly criticized Jenna Bush when she stuck her tongue out at them. She were just being college girl.

Okay Jenna Bush was old enough to know better and I guess technically Obama's kids are too, but you have to remember that none of these kids chose this life. They are forced into the public eye by their parents.

Although she never mentioned race, it seems that it's racially charged. This is pathetic and out of line. Cyber bullying young girls is a way to show class?

Cyber bullying can sometimes be as serious as actual bullying. Especially in this day and age where social media plays such a large role in young people's lives. You can say it comes with the territory but as was already mentioned, family is off limits. They have nothing to do with Obama's decision making or his achievements (or lack thereof) as President so far.

So after all that cyber bullying did she get paid or...?!...some things aren't worthy airing out in the open anyway :(...but with social media, suddenly some people feel safe to bombard others because of somewhat secrecy within...still i find it unworthy :(...my $ 0.02

What Lauten did was way too much. She has commited cyber bullying to these two teenage girls. It was a comment way too harsh. She should have kept it to herself and not post it on Facebook. Whatever reasons she had against Obama, she should not include the children.

Usually when they target family or race, the individual loses all (if they had any in the first place) credibility.

Give me a damn break. Everything isn't racially motivated. At one point or another, a politicians children are brought into the campaign lime-light and attacked in some way. So when the media went after Palin's kids and family, why weren't the media being called sexist?

Regardless of party, preference, ideals, etc, politicians kids should not be a way to attack or get after the politician. It's just a low-blow that shouldn't happen in any professional sense. Glad that the political consultant realized her mistake and stepped down from her job soon after.
