It is being widely reported that the internet in North Korea is completely down. Of course the media outlets are putting out the suspicion that the US is responsible for this outage. What do you think? Is it the US or is it something more benign? They barely have an internet in the first place so a server going down could just as likely be an explanation. Do you think that it is wise for the media to air their suspicion's that the outage has been caused by the US government?

If the US isn't behind it, its one hell of a coincidence. The technical nature of the incident points to a deliberate attack. That doesn't mean its necessarily a US lead effort, but considering what has been going on between the two countries, it points in that direction.

Lets hope cooling heads prevail and this doesn't go from cyber shenanigans to bullets and bombs.

I say we keep it like that until after the Super Bowl, just to teach those guys a lesson. Can you imagine. That little country is a real pain. They are cruising for a bruising if you ask me.

North Korean cannot be the only one messing around with the world, it's about time someone teaches them a lesson. So they are without internet? How did that happen lol? :)

Goody! Goody! I wish North Korea would lose their internet connection for three months.
President Obama was right! Sony should have consulted him before pulling that movie off the market. Sony deciding not to release that moving on Christmas day was a sign of unforgivable weakness!
It was the Sony corporation's green for more money that prevented them from installing a better security wall that would have prevented hacking in the first place.

I heard on the news this morning that the entire North Korean internet is run on four routers. FOUR ROUTERS?? for a whole country?? The internet as it is seen in that country is vastly different then what most of the world receives. I am sure they did not mean routers like people have in their home or office, more likely what was meant was internet hubs like those that service the main flow of internet traffic in the states. Still the thought of the difference in scale is really quite remarkable.

As far as who did to whom over a movie is just plain stupid. Do you seriously think something like that warrants an attack on another nation? Just moronic.

The point is that that little nation has nukes, and they have been threatening their neighbors. A war on the Korean Peninsula could destabilize the world economy. Pay close attention to those guys. They are very dangerous and they have no love for the United States especially. They blame us for their short comings. Look at our allies South Korea, and look at them. The picture speaks volumes. images NKVSK.jpg

A war on the peninsula would indeed be catastrophic. Unlike the first go around, I would imagine China would be smart enough to stay out of it. However, NK has about 6-8 A-bombs, huge stores of chemical weapons, and a 1.2 million man standing army. Things wouldn't look pretty if they opted to invade the South. What it would portend for the global economy wouldn't be much better.

Yes, because North Korea is the upstanding country that would NEVER censor their people and take down the internet.

I don't see us being responsible for this at all. Wouldn't surprise me to see NK blame us for it to threaten us more, but this just seems something to add fuel to the unnecessary fire. It's absolutely crazy how much backlash a movie has created politically, but it'll end up being an excellent case study of modern times about how we handle current threats.

Very true. It is amazing that a stupid Seth Rogen* movie can cause so much chaos. Sony was acting irresponsibly by making film about assassinating an actual, real, head of state, even it was a sack of crap like Kim Jong Un. In years past, thug dictators are normally portrayed in a fictionalized form to avoid this kind of international drama. If there were behind the hacking, and granted there is at least some doubt, NK was even more irresponsible in counter attacking via hacking. The whole is one big mess that could have been avoid by the application of a little common sense.

    * Come to think of it, is there a non-stupid Seth Rogen movie? I can't think of one at the moment. ;)
