I'm really surprised by these attacks in Sweden - I had always considered it to be a peaceful and tolerant country. It just goes to show how much of a grip Islamophobia is gaining. It seems that the freedom of worship is coming to an end.
I find it surprising too, I thought that the Nordic countries were super developed and peaceful, so seeing terrorist attack there makes me think that no one is safe anywhere.
Religious intolerance and racial profiling masqueraded as the freedom to protect yourself, eh? It's obviously just someone / a few people justifying their paranoia and racism as a righteous things to do. I wonder if they realize they are doing the same thing and operating with the same mentality as the terrorists they're so afraid and against of...
This is but the beginning of worse things to come. Let's just say that in Sweden, Neo-Nazis have openly started to wage war against Muslims and this will targeted groups will grow further to include anyone else who they feel doesn't belong in Sweden. But considering the fact that anti-Semitism is on the rise in Europe, all the other European nations need to prepare themselves for similar incidents and stop the Neo-Nazis before this becomes a continental problem.
I've been hearing so many talks about Neo-Nazis recently and with the presence the KKK showed during the Ferguson shooting, it just feels like someone has turned back time, doesn't it? So Neo-Nazism is making itself known in Europe and the KKK are more confident in making their presence known in the USA. I still don't understand why hate groups like this are allowed to start in the first place by the constitution. Isn't there a law against that somehow? I don't think it's against someone's freedom when the purpose of your group is the eradication of others, is it?
It certainly does seem like we are going back to the times of the Third Reich! In the UK, there are certainly laws against terrorism and hate crimes. We also have freedom of speech, worship and information though. If an overtly racist political party such as the BNP were to hold a march at the weekend, the police would be obliged to attend and protect them, under their right to partake in a peaceful protest!
