    Hi -
I am an indian residing in India. So any tips on how to invest in the US stock market. Any courses, books etc, that are good to follow. I am a regular investor in the Indian Stock market so I am aware of stock Market terminology. I am not aware of US stock Market ( I do not want to extrapolate my experience from Indian Stock Markets to the US markets as I feel that is a real recipe of disaster).

I would appreciate any help, tips, information etc.,

Thanks for the response but there are differences and it is not so easy for a person who is not resident in USA and having limited funds (Not somebody who has millions), as far as I know. Please let me know if I am wrong.

I have done some research, but since this is from the perspective of an Indian (who may or may not have ever visited USA and only giving some theoretical info, I would take it with a pinch of salt).

    1. I thing there is firm called OptionsExpress (can't post a link yet) includes India in the list of countries where is possible to open an international account to invest in the US Stock Market. They just merged with Charles Schwab and they have a nice online trading platform. Stocks and ETFs are little bit pricey. I have to contact them and see how this would work. I will update once I have more information on this.

    2. It might be better to go thru some Indian brokers and the reason being the broker in India will follow the required norms by India and allow one to invest without much hassle. Further as the institution would be in India, it would be more easy for resolving any disputes. So I believe ICICIDirect and Reliance Money are two brokers who do that but their offerings are limited. Not sure if those really would work for me or not.

    3. I believe there is a firm called DollarBird trading firm which facilitates this but I am not sure about the reputation of the same - So If anybody know something about this, it would be good.

Hi Beautyspin! Sorry I can't help you but thanks for sharing a breakdown of your research! I was just wondering if this is possible since I just saw a news report by the BBC about IMF's good forecast for the year 2015 based on the US market's sustained growth so I became interested in this too.

When I do my own research, I'll try to post here in case no one else has posted what they know. Thanks again! :)
