There are many applications and websites on the web that help you invest imaginary money in the actual stock market, to let you get a hang of the whole thing, you could always try that. Read some books, google warren buffet, the oracle of omaha, and read his biography, that oughta help. Remember, there's nothing better than personal experience! All the best. :D

There are a few online stockmarket games that can give you some play money to have a go. That is how I got started. Typically the games aren't the buy and hold strategies, more the buy low sell high which is a lot more risky. However you get to invest and see what happens and try to improve your knowledge and skills along the way. At first I was really bad at picking decent stocks, sometimes I got lucky, and it helped me build confidence later when I actually bought real stocks on the stockmarket.

No prob. Dalio has lots of good clips, including one where he speaks at length and gives a Q&A with Maria Bartiromo and an audience for well over an hour. Buffett has lots of interview footage as well. You might want to take notes when listening to these guys.

Glad I could help. Hard to go wrong when listening to those who have done what we all aspire to do.

I have been wondering the same thing. Thanks to everyone that listed everything on here. I have looked all over and this Forum is by far the most informative. I am looking forward to looking into The Essays of Warren Buffet.

This thread has a wealth of knowledge, (pun intended). I started learning to invest "full time" last year and am constantly amazed how much there is to learn regarding investing. I heard a 10,000 hours quote to fully understand it. I am starting to believe it is true...

But I think the key is not to overwhelm yourself and just take baby steps. I remember my first few investments were of small amounts, which I knew the commission would eat away any of the capital gains, but I was okay with that. Now I am starting to invest larger amounts as my comfort level increases.
