The president will address the nation tonight. Do you plan on watching? What do you think of his reported plan to increase taxes on the wealthy?

I wil just get the cliffnotes on it later. I don't find it very engaging to watch somebody read off of a telepromter followed by 30 minutes of applause.

I think every person that votes should at least get the headlines from it. Personally, I'll watch a little bit of it because this is the first Republican House that the President will be delivering it to. But honestly it's a lame duck SOTU address so I will catch the news highlights the next day.

SOTU addresses these days are more political platforms than it is results and accomplishments, unfortunately. It really is more about the campaigning for the Democratic Party. A good example of this is the new tax plan the President has for the middle class.

Nope, I am sure I will hear enough about it on the news. I am pretty sure at this point it is all political. It could be interesting to hear all about Obamas end game, but honestly it gets to the point where it is hard to even care. I can assure you his national priorities and my priorities are no where near the same. There is very little in my mind that could be a financial boost short of perhaps winning the lottery. At least there I know the odds were never in my favor.

I didn't watch it, but I already read on the news that he plans to shut down Guantanamo, so it's about time, a good decision in my opinion.

Honestly, I stopped watching them years ago. It does not matter which party is in office, the speeches are all the same. "We need to secure medicare for our seniors. We need to provide a better education to our children. We need to fight those terrorists. We will reduce taxes while expanding programs.

It is politics. They say what the people want to hear, but get nothing done.

I have watched the past couple of years but I didn't watch last night. To be honest I completely forgot that it was on. I caught the headlines this morning and it sounds like Rhoda was pretty dead on with her take. ;)

I did not watch the viewing all the way. Some of the footage I had viewed had to do with Keystone Pipeline which had its views from the Republicans and Democrats. I did not get to watch the president give his speech.

No, I didn't watch it. Mind you it is rare that I miss the STOU, but there simply was not point in burning up time watching BO blather. His tax hike plan has no prayer of getting past the GOP held congress, so it is even more of a farce.
