I lived in Las Vegas for a few years. Las Vegas took a big hit during the economic slowdown. I used to work in one of the casinos on the Center Strip. I knew things were bad, but that bad. Many of the local gambling casinos were in serious financial trouble, but I didn't know that any of the big casinos on the Center Strip were in trouble.

A very big portion of the tours who gamble in Las Vegas are from California. There are a lot of gambling alternatives in California. There are many Indian gambling casinos that are taking clients from Las Vegas.

Many people equate Las Vegas with The Strip. Las Vegas will not turn into a ghost town. The Strip won't turn into a ghost area. The landscape might change though.
