I did not get around to watching the State of the Union Address. I think the Cspan network had it on. I just did not care much for watching it. I watch a little bit but not the part with the president addressing the issues at hand. If you had watched the State of the Union Address then give out your opinion.
No, I did not watch the State of the Union speech this year. To be honest, I haven't watched in a number of years. Probably since 2009. I just don't see the point of it. It's nothing more than a chance for the president to make a bunch of empty promises, and it's full of meaningless applause lines designed to appeal to the uninformed. Not real point in me watching, in my opinion.
I didn't watch it live. I watched it the next day. I do agree that it's a bit of an infomercial with lots of dramatic pauses for applause. It's great to know what the president is focusing on for the next couple of years. I doubt that he will be able to implement much of the stuff that he would like because of partisan gridlock.
I didn't watch it this year, but this is the first time in many years where I have not. I did get the high points from the news the next day but for the most part it seemed to be the same old same old. Empty promises that the President has no ability to keep.
I really do think they should do away with the whole tradition of the State of the Union. Nothing ever comes out of all the grand rhetoric whether the president is a republican or a democrat. It really is just a big waste of time for all involved.
Go to 1:30 and see his true colors shine through... This is the guy who said he doesn't care whether or not increasing certain taxes will actually bring in more revenue or not - he simply wants to impose them because he thinks it's "fair".
Yes I did watch the State of the Union Address on Fox News. My opinion is that it was a wonderful speech but hopefully there will be a lot more action and certain things change for the better. I do agree that there have been empty promises so it can be hard for people to believe what the President is saying.
Seemed like a pretty standard state of the union, obviously there were a lot of things which he was misleading about. For example, he said that our combat mission in Afghanistan is over, yet we still have soldiers there and bullets are still flying. He pointed out that unemployment has dropped considerably, which is has. He did, however, leave out the fact that the number of Americans considered part of the work force and therefore eligible to be counted as unemployed has hit its lowest number since the 70s. I like the idea behind free community college for two years, and am a huge supporter of higher education, but I think that it is extremely idealistic and there are better ways to go about reforming our education system.
LOL! Indeed, he got heat (as he should have) from both left and right on the 529 idiocy. It does illustrated just how tax-happy the POTUS and those simpatico with his vision are.
