I believe that what you can do on a laptop cannot be done anywhere else. I think it is best to try and understand everything about your laptop to completely enjoy using it. I think it is one of the best companion one can ever have.
I used to take my laptop everywhere. But now that I have a tablet I often leave my laptop at home. The biggest problem with a laptop is the few minutes it takes to setup and pack away. A tablet on the other hand insteadly turns on and off. It all depends how long I will be gone.
When it comes to playing games I would prefer a desktop. A laptop is really good for online stuff and carrying around with you for school. Laptops can play games, but I just like having a superpowered desktop computer that can do that.

No, I don't take my laptop everywhere I go, but that is in part because my laptop is too big to really carry around. We weren't thinking about that at the time of purchase. I am hoping that we can get a tablet soon though and then I will be able to do work on the go.
Sometimes I take my tablet everywhere I go but not too often because I like using it a lot at home. In the future I'll be buying myself a new laptop and will still keep my tablet. When I get that laptop I might bring it with me if I need too. There are some places that have WIFI which is neat.
