The title kind of says it. In this day and age, how important to one's professional career is it to have a fully developed LinkedIn profile? How has it worked or not worked for you? Do you have any tips or tricks? Thanks for sharing.
I don't use LinkdIn that much, but I do have a profile and I see my friends changing theirs all the time. If I was looking for a job I would be using it much more.
I do have a LinkedIn profile but I have not started using it extensively. I think it is quite great if I would be able to find a cool job in this manner.
I used to use linkedin, FB, etc some to prospect for clients years ago. As for my own personal profiles, I keep them as private as possible these days - limited public info, etc.
I have a profile on LinkedIn but I very rarely use it. I keep my husband's updated pretty well, but it is more important in his line of work than it is in mine. At least for right now anyway.
I think everybody needs the LinkedIn profile once in a while. I have never come across a person who uses them on a constant basis.
I have very mixed feelings when it comes to LinkedIn. I really like the idea but I feel like there is something missing from the whole concept... I do have a profile but to be honest it's rarely, if ever, used for anything except sending a message or two to people I used to work with in the past.
LinkedIn encourages you to put your whole profile, work experiences, education, etc.. very open for anyone trying to steal some identities. Although, this also goes to FB, but FB do not force you to include work experiences, etc. I don't really know.. but for me, I do not find linkedin useful at all.
One thing I'll add is I loathe social media. I don't use Facebook or anything like it. The only reason I use LinkedIn is for professional networking and employment, but, as per the reason I posted this, I have my doubts as to its utility. I do have a business partner who things is helpful to obtain business. So, I guess it doesn't hurt to flesh it out and stay somewhat active there.
