At least that is what President Obama claimed in a speech that he gave today in South Carolina. you can read the news story here. I honestly can't believe he even said that out loud. Doesn't he have people writing his speeches for him who maybe has half a brain?

Even if it was easier to buy a gun than vegetables in certain neighborhoods, whose fault is it? Obama is the one in charge of the country after all...

It's all rhetoric aimed at pulling at the emotional strings of his base and other low-information voters. I'm amazed at how well it works.

Wait a politician said something that is not true in order to affect the people who will one day be voting for or against him? NOOOO... you've got to be kidding me. I never imagined something like this could happen.

As easy as buying vegetables? I think not. There is a finely nuanced expression for what he said: bullsh¡t!

To buy a Title I firearm, you need to fill out a form 4473. Undergo a background check. Get your fingerprints taken. Show your ID. And pay for the background check.

To buy a Title II firearm, you need to fill out a form 4. Get a CLEO sign off. Get finger printed. Pay $5 or $200 dollars in taxes, depending upon the item. Undergo a background check. Wait an eternity for it to be approved (4-10 months is the average). Fill out a from 4473, in some cases.

What is the last time you bought a carrot and did all that crap? Hint: never!

Well, last week my local grocery store had a sale where one could buy sweet peppers for a buck each. I really doubt that one could buy a gun anywhere for a dollar! I used to be a person who thought we should have more gun control (especially after Sandy Hook) but I have since done a complete 180. I started doing some research on the current administration and it is REALLY scary to see all the things going on right now, especially with the dangerous foreign policy being administered. I certainly now "get it" as to why the writers of the Constitution clearly stated that individuals have the right to bear arms in order to protect themselves and to prevent those in power from gaining too much control over citizens. I only hope we can make it to 2017 with our nation still intact. Keep your eyes on the Iran "deal"... and you might want to consider having iodine pills on hand for your thyroid in case we get nuked. :(

If that is the case, where it is easier to buy guns than it is to buy vegetables, then the world has become a very risky place, meaning that people who can nopt even control their emotions can have easy access to guns, students can have easy access to guns, then it is all risky and someone needs to step up, and that is the president himself.

He was not being literal though...He's just trying to make a point. Maybe it wasn't as well worded as he thought, but I do agree that in America, people do have much easier access to guns than pretty much any other country in the world. Yes, I know that the Swiss also have access to guns, but you don't hear about school shootings happening every month there

I still think it's easier to get vegetables, but I agree with the point, guns are too easy to access and any wacko can get them, so restricting access to guns should be a priority.

I have a concealed carry license and I still have to wait for the shop owner to call the FBI and get fingerprinted as well as fill out some forms before I can purchase a gun. I have never waited up to an hour to buy a carrot. Heck, I had to pawn a gun last week to cover a bill and the paperwork for that took over half an hour and I had to have my fingerprints scanned and have my picture taken. Again, never had that done when I wanted to run to the store for salad fixings.
