Should tenants complain that one of their neighbors regularly beats their spouse but the victim is unwilling to press charges, what should a landlord do to restore some peace? Evict both or demand that the aggressor should leave?

Why not just go straight to the police and let them sort it out? I would be really uncomfortable if the landlord started meddling in my life.

How can he if the victim is unwilling to press charges? They'd hate that more than the landlord trying to amicably solve the matter either by evicting the couple or having the man leave. When I lived in a flat a few years back, the tenants themselves evicted a man who'd been beating his wife every time he came home drunk. I thought maybe something like this could solve the issue.

Better option would be to contact the police. If you try to tell the landlord who knows what they might do if they would call the cops or not. You would have to leave that to the cops who would deal with it.

I am with you here, if there is domestic violence the police should be called because we should not get in the middle of that. If it's proven so the eviction process can begin.

If I heard my neighbors having problems with domestic violence, I wouldn't even think about talking to the landlord, I'd go straight to the Police, let them sort it out.

The landlord, should evict booth of them , because I doubt the aggressor ca leave if at all the victm does not want to press charges, in order to create peace for the other tenants, the land, ord will have evict them both.

I have to say that if I was home and heard the woman upstairs being beaten to a pulp by her husband, I'd be straight on the phone to the police. I wouldn't be leaving it til the next day to complain to the landlord about the noise, I'd be calling the cops straight away.

As much as i'd like to go to the police, in my situation i can't, i'd rather stay in my bubble,{ there was a situation early last year, my neighbor pissed off her husband, hellbent, she was on the wrong, out there flirting with others...when the mess hit the fan, she knocks on my door, asking for help, for starters am single, this 'cat' brought problems right at my doorstep, the hubby will not care if am defending her or what, we'll both get it rough, so in my case, i didn't help or even speak about it to no one!} In my neighborhood, you see it happen but in the real sense you never saw it happen...comprender!....otherwise you are on someone's hit list, for meddling :(

For a number of reasons, I'd say always get the law involved anytime there is illegal activity or any sort of danger to anyone.
