Well, it is official, Ted Cruz is now in the game. In fact, he's the first serious candidate that has put his hat in the ring. I caught part of his announcement speech. While I wasn't all that wild about the religious talk, the idea of a flat tax and abolishing the IRS warmed my heart. I'm sure there will be some other announcements, but as of right now, I'm down with supporting his candidacy. That is not to say there aren't some other GOP potential candidates that would be solid, but I'm sympatico with much of the platform Cruz is running on.
Isn't it still very early for candidates to officially enter the race? I don't really follow US politics THAT closely until at the very late stages of elections etc but religious talk, falt tax doesn't sound too good to my ears.
I agree that it's still very early, but at the same time he has already booked it's place and people running will have to consider him. The chances that he will make it to the end? I don't know.
I heard he announced it at an university and attendance to the event was mandatory? Lol. I'll be honest, I highly doubt he has any chance of winning, but hey, it'll be interesting to see what happens.
It is not all that early to announce a candidacy. The current president, for example, announced he was running on February 10, 2007. His opponent, McCain, announced on April 25th.
Some political analysts say Ted Cruz won't win an election and for that reason might not get the GOPs nomination as their presidential candidate. He's serious about trying to get into the White House but will he make it past the primaries? Apparently, most people believe he won't.
Cruz is far too extreme and panders to the fringe right wing of the Republican Party. One can have ideologies different from others but there is a fine line when such thinking excludes certain demographics in America and want to turn the clock back to a time where equal rights only exist for some people. Cruz hasn't offer anything concrete in terms of how to resolve some issues within government. He relies heavily on talking points but refuse to offer details on how to get from point A to point B. Government is not a joke to me and politicians need to start taking their jobs seriously and not making it into a field on who can get the most airtime on cable news.
Here's a recent article from the Washington Post about some of his views. It's a great read. Entertaining, shall we say. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...ge-activists-to-flat-earthers-where-to-begin/
Cruz isn't a serious candidate in any way, he only serves the Party by making the serious candidate/s look better by comparison, there are always a few like these.
